hi vidya ma'am, i dont exactly have a formula or tips to stay awake. but what i do make sure is that i have the energy to stay up(i.e. my afternoon naps help with that) one thing that i can suggest is to take coffee...caffeine helps me stay awake.this is usually when i'm desperate to stay awake to finish any last minute assignments and i didnt get my my afternoon 'nap'. if you're not a coffee person, maybe you could try and take tea instead because tea does contain some amount of caffeine in it. i loved to take black tea then, because i never was a coffee person. but now i like coffee as well - and black coffee has become one of my faves now....and it is one of the best types to keep you awake. but a word of caution - you may get addicted hope his helps you vidya ma'am cheers ya all. |

hi krish ji. my mom too doesnt like it when i sleep in the afternoon and end up staying awake till early mornings. well, i discovered that if i abstained from sleeping/napping in the afternoon,i usually feel sleepy by 12pm. this meant that i would go to bed earlier than usual. like last night, i did not get my usual nap time, and i felt really tired.so, i hit the sack at about 11 pm! ![]() maybe you can ask your husband to quit the afternoon naps and see if he begins to feel sleepy earlier than usual. but then,i feel that this is only a short term solution because my eyes usually hit the sleep button as soon as i get back home from my classes. this means i find it hard to not have my afternoon naps. :( i'll hope i can find more solutions. all the best to you krish ji. hope this helped. cheers Last edited by maya08; 23rd October 2007 at 09:55 PM. |

| Hi Maya, You yourself have the solution. As you mentioned above that when you don't get your afternoon nap you hit the sack early. To avaoid the seista...try cutting down on your naps during the day and engage in other activities that will help you to stay awake. As you are net savvy try to surf during the day and keep your self engaged or do some other activities. Also if you sleep keep a wake-up alarm and try reducing the nap time. My MIL also does the same whole day whenever she finds time she'll go to sleep...she really dosen't to work around the house so she is literally a couch potato either reading or watching TV...to the extent that she will tell the servants to serve dinner on the safa ...she does not even get up and go to the dining table to eat her dinner and then at night she does not get sleep...whenever she tries to get up she feels giddy and loses her balance and then coz she does not get sleep in the night she takes sleeping pills. Now the pills also have deserted her they don't help her to sleep. Basically she gets enough sleep & rest during the day so at night sleep eludes her and no physical activity. Inshort, try cutting down on your afternoon naps till you avoid them. Its the way you have set the clock for your body. Now you may not realise but later it can lead to health problems. Take care. Roopa. |

hi roopa ji. yes im now trying this method; whereby i do not take my afternoon siesta. i had tried earlier the alarm clock method. its of no use for me though.i'm such a deep sleeper, and since my alarm clock has a snooze button, i end up hitting snooze button... no doubt i'm net savvy, unfortunately i cant exactly surf the net at this point of time for i have some competition with my family members. afternoon appears to be the prime time to use the internet. so that option is out. but im still going to try other things to keep me awake. anyhow,i hope this method will work. thanks for your views roopa ji. cheers. |

| Hi Maya, I have been trying to avoid my noon naps....but have never found a way to do so. If I do'nt sleep during the noon times, I feel tired by 5.00 pm. So I prefer to sleep in the afternoon. My bed time is around 12.00 in the night. And that is only because I go for long walks in the evening. On days when I do'nt go for walks, then I am in the same boat as you are...browsing all night
