Default and then they didnt have an answer..do you?

hello
And then they didn’t have an answer….!

Tomorrow is ayudha pooja and was I happy to know my sons were coming home for pooja. A couple of days back they said they could not get tickets and were not coming…but now they said they will be coming by bus. A little tedious but was I happy..!

Butterflies went a flying… I was singing humming so happily. When sons or daughters go away for studying or work parents have a tough time coming to terms…
Mom you know something we have brought our laptops too they said. You mean to say you have to work from home I asked. Oh no it is for keeping for saraswathi pooja and may our work become prosperous.. of course we will keep yours too. Your writings will get a new dimension what with HER supreme blessings they said.

Hey your mother cant do without IL you know my husband started. Only then did I realize …ya I may not be able to look or just have a peep into IL what with all the TPs in pooja. Even if it is an elaborate procedure in our place I just hadn’t thought about this aspect. Mom so no looking in …no reading.. no writing… they said. So what, it is just for a day (DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY) they teased.

look at your moms face vijay joined in. you think she can stand the stand off strain they discussed.. what do I say..? I was just as worried. This has become my habit, my pastime and my launching pad for all my writings. Oh what do I do ?...they were busy tidying up the tools . the chairs and tables too got a wash and whiff of fresh air.

Suddenly it hit on me. Hey come here all of you I said. They came. You see I cook day in and day out. As far as I am concered cooking utensils, the gas burner and all are tools too in cooking. So for pooja do I keep these things too. and suggest we eat only fruits…….?! I said. got it I thought…! You must have seen the look on their faces…! And they didn’t have an answer…! Do you…?

Dear Satya,
Without IL one whole day ????
Yes Satya, We should also be given a holiday for this. We are working all the time we are awake. Our kitchen and the utensils should also get a holiday.
Actually I think there is a function like this for the Gujarathis . I am not sure.

When we were in Calcutta we used to stay with a gujarathi family. They told me, one day that they make dishes the previous day itself and will not go into the kitchen that day. Can anyone shed some light on this festival?

Love
Latha

Dear Sathya,

Thanks for the info that tomorrow is Ayudha pooja... Sitting here, we lost track of all these things... I still remember when I was in Chennai, it used to be a big mela for all industries.... We used to get all sweets... porikadalai.... hahahahah... missing all those things...

You can keep all the utensils, stove etc. also in the pooja... Ofcourse, they are also the tools... It is not a must that you have to eat only fruits... Obviously you all can go to a good hotel and have tasty nice meal, for a change....hahahahah... (Hey just joking... ) Me & my kids dont mind joining....

But I can understand your feeling for IL... All the best...

Hi Shanthi,

Yes I have heard of that.

All the knifes, even the needled will not be taken out and used for that day. Stoves and the kitchen will be cleaned thoroughly for the day??? ( other days no cleaning?? maybe only once a year )

I don't know when it is. can anyone tell us?
Yes satya, I am also readyto go Gujjus on days like this.

hi latha,

When i was a kid, while visiting granny, i have seen all those houses cleaned with cow dung, having vibuthi pattais, a big kumkum in the middle, a lot of sambrani......the kalapai, yer, katthi, kadaparai, man aduppu all having the same decoration....even the marakkals and padi.

I also used to wonder...why do they clean this only once a year...

I think it is during navarathri or krishna jayanthi...and they do all the cooking days before.... but it is not acceptable in my household if it is patthu/pasai....

Hi Satya,

You can have a deal with them.
You can visit IL and blog and they can have their food,
and going for gujjus on this particular day too.

You can shoot both the birds.

Even I too want to go for gujjus.

HaHAAHAH

Nice post.
