Life's field

Dear friends

I am sending herewith a poem written by my brother long back

That day i was on the cricket field
with the cricket bat as my shield
To play for the college team
to make it a champion team

We played as a team with vigour
we made little runs hour after hour
All at once many a wicket fell
till the Captain and I were together well

The Captain looked every ball
I defended without afall
My Captain drove, I ran for runs
My Captain glanced , there were four runs

I made a striking century
Our team snatched the great trophy
Our Captain got all the fame
for his was a glorious game

We carried the trophy through the street
with full of smiles on the street
Suddenly i saw our intimate fiend
standing on the other side of the road

Ran I to meet him with terrible speed
on with the boots fully nailed
Alas my boots slipped , I fell down
a car passing by knocked me still down

Shouted a shriek and woke up
Only to find it was all a dream

Fears I have now that I may cease to be
Fears that from life's field I have to flee
Therefore pray I, for no century on the cricket field
only to celebrate a century on the life's field

For youth is pleasure, I have still to taste
And death is its end, I need not in haste
