| 1.Avoid travelling late at night. If you are held up at work or any other place ,ask for an escort or team up with a team.Inform your family to pick you up from the station or bus stop. 2.Avoid short cuts.Stick to well lit roads and your familiar routes. 3.Carry a pepper spray, chilli powder or a small knife to defend yourself. 4.I t is safer to travel by public transport than cabs. 5.Always inform your family of your whereabouts and call them on boarding the bus or train and tell them which route you are taking. 5.Exercise regularly and keep fit so that if faced with untoward circumstances you are confident. 6.Note down the number of the cab or auto when you board it and message it to your family. I f you are woman working at late night shifts,or in shifts a hand held mobile gadget comes to your rescue.Chip maker SRF technologies has introduced Lone Worker which sends distress signals to police, offices,or any other number along with their location instantaneously. It is communication device -that has built in GPS .It is pre programmed to dial 4 numbers which can be selected by the employer or the individual. There is also one SOS button that when pressed will call an emergency response number .This could be to a government agency /or the organisations security /emergency contact number .What is interesting is that the SOS will go through even if there is no SIM. |
