TDU Sir,

Indian Street food seems to be having a lot of fan following in IL too. Every city and town has its own special street foods. Paav bhaji, Sandwich and Vada paav taste good only when it comes from the street hawkers. I have noticed the same with Kulfi and Chaat's too.

And ofcourse to finish it would be either " ganne ka juice" or "kokum sherbet"

Nice write up. So whats next? Vada Pao ? or the Chaat Vendors of Mumbai? Hey remember the Sandwhich vallas and their cycle shops?

hi vandhana,

what is kokum sherbet, what is the main ingredient in that??

There is just one major ingredient which makes street food much more tastier than home food -- yes, THE STREET !!
In such a live ambience with so many distractions, food tastes marvellous in spite of the shopwallahs grubby clothes, untidy hands, not properly rinsed glasses etc. etc.....
No wonder however lovingly we follow a perfect recipe for bajjis at home, the taste can never come close to the ones eaten hot hot at Marina Beach , with the salty sea breeze to kick up our senses !
Regards.

thanks for the kokum info, then your remark over marina beach was fantastic that tasty pattani sundal with mangai, hot hot milgai bajji(this bajji taste we dont get at home), muruku, sukku coffee, sugar cane juice, then samosa sundal, cone ice cream, cut mango pine apple, cucumber slices with chilli powder, balloons, cotton candy, fancy shell items, a lot of misc fancy items, horse riding, raatinams(merry- go -round), a long walk with our beloved brings a lot lot more fondly memories about marina beach
