HI friends

Here is one which i felt interesting and till now wheni remember these things i just cant stop laughing......

One of my uncle who is a x-military person very strict and sincere .... one day my aunt has gone out so she kept the food ready for uncle and informed him everything is there in the table. curd alone is there in the fridge you can take it and have it...

uncle came home had the food... he opened the fridge had curd also and slept before aunty reaches home... aunty and daughter started to have their food they found uncle did'nt use the curd at all and thinking what happend he wont finish his food without curd. next day when he gotup they asked did u have curd yesterday uncle said ya ya i had but its not tasty so did'nt have much... they asked uncle to show from which vessel he took curd he showed the vessel it was dosai mix... we cud'nt control laughing... he even had that food too telling us curd was not good so i did'nt eat much.

Another incident with my uncle (another uncle) same dosai mix and curd... once when he wanted to make dosai he took curd and spreading on the dosai tawa and thinking why dosai is not coming properly....

Meena,
I also had the confusion between what is thoovar dhal, channa dhal, and moong dhal, because all of them are yellow..
You are so true, if something goes wrong., we blame.., I don't blame you.
Ok, you didn't tell us how your blunder turned into...cashew kabab to...nalla yennai cashew kabab..how was the taste..please share your secrets...

Vahee,
Your blunder turned out good., so can this be called as an 'experience'., right?

I was thinking how your uncle ate the 'dosai mix'..maybe he was hungry that he didn't notice the taste..

About your another thinking dosai mix, he used curd...
True we are going to think about whenever we see a dosai mix, and curd..

I was around 15 or 16 years and decided to make fried rice. I made the rice and did not let it cool.
I started preparing the fried rice and you can guess what happened, it was like glue! All the rice sticked together it was horribe. My cousin brother was staying at our house since it was vacation time and he was laughing! This is like wall paper glue, see it even sticks on the spoon. Till date he teases me with the glue I prepared.

Chandramukhi,
You were atleast 15-16 years of age...but I made the same mistake while preparing for the Tamarind rice..while I am in the 20s...
But these blunders come to our mind., whenever we prepare it now, isn't it!

There are several occasions where there were blunders which took different shapes later on.On such incident happened last year.My daughter was at home as it was her study holidays,so myself and m in law decided to make kola wada(kodbale). We added the right ingredients .My m in law started making the rings sitting at the dining table.I was to fry them.In went the batch the first set of balls.I had a feeling that it was going to burst, dropped the ladle inside the pan and lo........it did. There was oil all the place with some spluttering on the ceiling, wall stove etc..But I had the quick sense to switch off the stove.Myself and my m in law watched and watched till the noise came to grinding halt.It took us 2hrs to clean the mess. But what to do with the dough...Then we tried making it biscuits,no it became messy....Then trying in dosa tava and microwave oven it was hopeless. So the only alternative was to add wheatflour and roll into chappatis. For the next coupl of days it was chappatis all the way.........
There was one more occasion wherein I made gulab jamuns but did not make the sugar syrup, simply arranged the jamuns on a tray ,poured milkmaid over it and added some nuts on it.
There was one more occasion where the modak mavu became balls in jaggery added coconut milk...........

Hi,

Orange peel chutney's a very tasty dish,it makes a wonderful side dish for hot dal rice with dollops of ghee. I have heard that this chutney is a good appetizer.

Talking of kitchen blunders I can remember my mother's first fiasco when she was a young cook. She made lemon rice with all ingredients right except for turmeric powder. The family got a bowl of white lemon rice and upon asking she said, 'Since I squeezed the juice of a whole lemon in it, I thought it would turn yellow by itself, since lemons are yellow.'
