Saving f valuable lives

We got the opportunity to save the lives of a whole family during the riots in 1964. We were at Jamshedpur and a muslim was our neighbour and also a colleague working in the same department with my husband. I Iad joined my husband after having my second baby. Hindus were massacered in East Pakistan and so in retaliation in Bihar and West Bengal muslims were targeted. My husband told our neighbour to move out to a safer place, but he told that Allah was Great1 and he would take care. But my husband's fear had become true and he came to know that the local people had planned to attack the specific community. It was a Saturday and the office was for half day only. When he got the news in office, he brought a taxi and told my neighbour's family to get into the taxi immediately and told the Sardarji driver not to stop the taxi anywhere and drop them safely in a camp that was under police protection. As he was a known driver, he had instructed him to come and tell whether they reached safely. Immediately after they left, their house was attacked and all the valuable things were looted. We were silent spctators and could do nothing because we were outsiders. Though the lives were saved one girl child had lost her voice after seeing the violence. Then when the riots were contolled they went back to their native place at UP and returned after 6 months.
My husband had also saved too other person's lives, one knowingly and the other one without knowing. One of his close friend was in debts and as he was pressurised to return the money, he decided to commit sucide. One of the officers came to know about it and he told my husband to keep a watch on him and also to tell the family also to take care of him. He told the family and also helped to clear the debts by collectng money from other friends. Thus one valuable life was saved.
After we settled in Madras, a person in our locality was stabbed in front of our neighbours house due to personal enmity and was dragged by the offenders to push him in an open well nearby. We heard the shouting and switched on our front light to see what was happening. But we waited for some time and found nothing. But they got frightened and left him and ran away. The person's house was nearby and so he went home and his wife took the bleeding man to hospital. He had serious cut near the heart and was operated and hospitalised for more than a month. Only the next morning we came to know about this and we were told because we switced on the light, he was saved. So this what we call providential escape!
