I’m Baalika , just completed eleven years into this world.…..please don’t look at me, don’t stare…. I fear….. You might be able to see the scars of life. What if I find in your eyes the same covetousness?
    <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />
My eyes have seen men calling themselves uncles but nothing avuncular about them. Seemed to be a parody of one. They played games with me. Games they said I would enjoy, but I didn’t. I was often obfuscated by the great alacrity they showed to play with me. I never understood and they always won. Looked victorious. Their games left scars on my body. They call themselves hedonist. If these are hedonists then who are rapists?

Everything in life seemed so adulterated. Is an orphan often left to be servile? Why was my once pretty life turned by people into a sordid outpost of lust?

I tried to talk and was often muted. Some pulled these tresses with brutal words. Some spanked these concave cheeks. And when I did get to speak, no one listened. They called me innocent but treated me with guile. Very often their crimes were treated as mere peccadillo than a heinous crime.

Look here, this is my urn , my best friend. So small, so tiny awaiting my end. Mom , when alive once told me this is where we all end. Now I carry it with me. I read somewhere a bud crushed before bloom , is probably best to die than answer my past a million times. The world derives sadistic pleasure. Would silently laugh as every wistful moment I cry. So I think its better to die. I look at it with a lot of love hoping, when I finally rest in it, it would give me the shelter in its small space that the whole wide world failed to give.

I may be small but please do not ignore me .Please for once tell me, don’t we all have the right to live and bloom? Then why do people leave kids like me to doom? Why do you commit mistakes and fight? Why is there only darkness no light? Why are you so pernicious? Why does one not appreciate the inner beauty .? Why is it a must that beauty externally also be seen? If this urn is going to protect me from all this sorrow, wouldn’t this be the place you find to rest tomorrow? Then why do you all behave thus? You may be very rich and me so poor but would this urn not be your very end…

I love my best friend and I look for solace in her. I say its her because all him’s now I fear. Do you know someone like me? Another Baalika? In case you do please protect them would you? Let them befriend real toys than resort to die. Let not this urn befriend them before they know whats life!

So here I sit , awaiting.........me...... Baalika with my small urn.

    Love,
    Devika

    dear devi mole,
so touching your post is. literally myeyes were in tears when reading? but at the same time a big question arise in my mind. why it is happening? or rather I would ask why these idiots are acting this? for pleasure? in that case they can go to a prostitute and get satisfied. why to these little buds who do have so many dreams in their eyes and heart and wait for a life with bed of roses. yesterday, I read in the paper a shocking news.on the advice of the " tantric" a father raped his own daughterwho is 10yrs old, to get some hidden wealth. after that the the tantric. these things happened in front of the mother's eyes, who was tied up. what should we do? giving punishment to these rascals is not going to solve the problem? how about the buds who are not allowed to bloom in the life garden? can you suggest something?
    with love

    Dear Devika,

A very touching post. Child Prostitution not only ends in death but is a violation of their rights. They take away the very 'essence' of childhood. It is so sad that the kids are not only exploited by the local men and also heard that this is one of the 'tourist attaractions' in South America. These kids apart from infected with 'deadly' diseases have to undergo abortions and develop 'suicidal' tendencies. A campaign with 'global' interest is needed to prevent this.

    Dear Mom,

Great to receive your first comment. Yes these are issues that need the immediate attention. The voices of these kids are so meek and timid and fail to reach the desired ears and thats when they need a saviour.

What a lovely FB you have written! Loved it.

    Thankyou once again:)

    Love,
    Your Mol

Heart breaking post. There are so many baalika’s in this world who are forced to live like this.. It’s a pity that we seem to discuss on these issues but aren’t in a position to do something about it.

We are not able to tolerate these scenes in the movies but some people do it in real life and live a care free life like as though money is their only happiness. This reminds me of kamal hassan’s movie Mahanadhi. The villain cheats the hero, jails him and then sells the hero’s daughter to a pimp in solagachi. The girl’s father comes to know about this after his release. Goes in search for her and finally rescues her from the clutches of the pimps. Even then they are not ready to part with the little one and demands for a lump sum. An elderly lady who is a part of them says that she would collect the money from the rest of them and give it to the pimp. She says that this girl is lucky to have such a father who has come a long way to rescue her but this lady was forced to come here because of her father.

Some are forced and some voluntarily does this to get easy money:bang

By the way your avatar looks very cute. Is it mother’s day special?

I know you are a great writer but you are phenomenal in this write up about sexual abuse to children.

It is a heinous crime and it occurs the world over. You have through your incredible writing skill have shared the story of one such girl with so much finesse that our heart starts bleeding on hearing this outcry.

Your avatar stands total testimony to this topic.
    Thank you.

This is the spear of truth as now most who look at her fail to see the true person but just an object of sex. It is indeed the height of cruelty.

I am ashamed to add this plight is not restricted to just orphans. I hear on the news everyday so many children abducted and so many raids on pornography over the internet where children were involved.

These words really are a torture to read and realise in our mind we live in this society and acknowledge that there are many wolf in sheep's clothing in our midst.

Your lines here my friend echo that little girl's cry for help and our prayers join the plight of children and women suffering across the globe.

These words are so heart wrenching in their cry for help. Thanks for writing a monumental piece on the suffering and heinous abuse on children and raising awareness among us.

    Priya Sakhi,

Really a emotinal and heart wrenching topic. Sadly, we are hardly able to pull those buds out of this hell.

The Urn part was really very touchy and really couldnt stop my tears.....What a life!

There is a huge network linked to this whole thing and in most cases not easy to protect the kids from the web :-(bonk
