Can You laugh at yourself?

When we are born we cry and others laugh out of joy. And when we die others cry and we- - -- -- sorry I don't know.

What could have been our life without being humoured. I think the most humorous thing would be to laugh at ourself. A tough job? Easily said than done.

I do laugh at myself with no reference to othes, ofcourse when Iam alone, to myself!
A real joke at oneself is a mark of maturity. To speak of oneself to others is nodoubt a sensitive affair. What could be the reason? Are we apprehensive of our self esteem? Do we fear that others would consider as knaves or take advantage of our weakness?
At any point of time have you considered a real joke on you worthwhile? May I know your point of view?

I really don't think a person's life is worth living unless he can laugh at herself/himself. And I agree with you that it is a sign of maturity. True, sometimes, it is hard to laugh immediately. But given enough time, one can analyze and then begin to appreciate the humorous aspects of one's failures as well as successes. Any interesting person would definitely laugh at himself/herself. Some can do it even in public. People will only respect a person who has the courage to own up his/her lapses. And do so humorously.

Well speaking for myself,let me tell u , I make fun of myself at all blogs.In a recent blog I called myself a fat Goon.But would I tolerate anyone else telling me that? That’s a tough one to answer.HAHA.

I cannot exactly recall incidents to quote as to when I have laughed at myself....but your post has made me to mention my favourite among the ''funny shayaris'' that I have come across...(I had mentioned of this sheir even before here in IL..)

After I first read this...I always feel funny when I look at the mirror..

I can laugh at myself and laugh loudly! There is no harm in identifying one's own self and a person who laughs at himself can only laugh loudest at others!

Yes i do laugh at myself.My DH,sister and BIL are v fond of my nature of cracking witty jokes at myself and laughing at myself.They tell me that you put us in a situation where we cant laugh neither can we control it.I had never recognized this and was surprised when others told me.
