hi balaji,
it was great reading this one...am not a big believer in VP too....but seen many people alter their homes...and yes of course, now the classifieds carry ads for vaastu compliant flats...
any way, u can't do much when u are in a flat...but one of my aunts has an independent house, and when they had too many health problems and other tensions in the family, they altered the house as per the plans of some vaastu expert...consequently the kitchen became the bedroom, part of the portico gave way for a new kitchen, a bed room was added by extending the house into the backyard, and the existing doorway was blocked and a new one added....
well... all i can say is that its a lucrative business for those who practice it...

and then there used to be an ad in the chennai newspapers which ran "we are hereditary followers of vastu shastra without generation gap"
i showed it to my dad and used to

Dear balajee Sir,

That was a great write up.. I enjoyed reading it...

In our native..their was a big beautiful house ... in our opposite street....It can be see through our Balcony....Whenever I go for my Semester Holidays..the House had some alterations..or they will be working to do the alterations... All the time I see the house appeared very diferent each time.....
One time the steps will be outside the house, the other time I see the steps for the terrace will be at the back of the house..like this many many endless alterations..all the time....

The owner of the house is a rich man..And he belives in Vaastu..So he always do some changes in the house for well being.. It was purely Ridiculous......

I really dont know when these people are going to change....

Oops sorry! I too missed out on that! May be a hang over after a good nap lest I would have corrected it at least in my quote! Any way, that shows that I was so mesmerised by your style of writing that small mistakes slipped my x-ray eyes! Even I am very conscious about spelling mistakes and grammatical errors! If I notice any during my second read, I immediately edit them! Even you could have done it after my having highlighted it! But ofcourse, it was not intentional on my part.
Regards,
Malathi

Mindi if Feng Shui and Vaastu are sciences Physics, Chemistry et al must be superstitions.

Sure Akka, I will keep posting funny blogs at least because I am incapable of being serious. I read Pushpavalli Srinivasan's blog about that disastrous sari and just dont know how to react. Serious writings of others make me uncomfortable and my attempts at them make me laugh.

Sri, I love Vivek's satirical potshots at everything ranging from the filmdom to superstitions. His attack on Vastu hits the bull's eye. I remember a Hindi horror movie called Vaastu Shastra starring Sushmita sen in which a Vaastu conscious doctor (Sen) buys a house based on Vaastu principles only to find that it is haunted. Vaastu doesn't prevent a whole lot of people from being bumped off by spooks in that film!

All these pseudosciences are lucarative businesses. As long as there are gulliable people they are bound to be conned by purveyors of Vaastu, astrology, palmistry, numerology and what else.

Dear Balajee,

It was a pure pleasure to read this! I am like you too..
Have no clue, don't know the difference between FengShui and chop suey!! Husband knows chop suey and will look up dictionary for Feng Shui. Yeah, lost cases, both of us!
So, Nostradamus, even if he is going to look like Sushmita Sen, will have no chance in our house...speaking only for me. If Miss Sen turns up, I am not too sure about hubby's inclinations !?!
As of now, I may be cooking in my bedroom and sleeping in the loo.....according to FS!
No matter, I know how to enjoy a good dose of humor and you seem to dish it out in abundance:)

L, Kamla
