Dear Sri,

I posted this blog simultanously at Indus and the other site where i used to post before i joined here.

and it has created so much furore there, with a blogger claiming that i am propogating child labour. And unfortunately this blog got featured , which incensed the blogger no end.

So a war is going on there, he has written hios own blog, which has 900 hits and 70 comments, all his side, that kamalji likes child labour. My blog too is attractiong a lot of hits 600 hits and 50 comments, some taking my side.

After reading my blog , do u think i am saying we should employ child labour eh !

Well these uneducated guys produce kids, and this is the problem.the kids have to beg or work or steal really, u just cant avoid the reality.

I found it very interesting to read this thread becuase you have given a different face to it. A different perspective and outlook.. from what I am used to reading about.
You are first addressing this issue as an exported in mind and the impact this would happen to the business.

You say there will be more child beggars soon? Maybe so. But their mentality is such that they would continue that trend. No they are not going to exercise birth control because in their minds they benefit with more children. This is actually universally true. In all countries there are people who exploit the Government and take advantage of the benefits by having more children...

You say these are minimum wages set by the importers. True. But they are only guidelines. You can ofcourse employ someone with lesser pay as long as the quality does not suffer. Its my understanding the exporters employing cheaper labor always compromise on quality. And when the goods are rejected there is always a huge cry over it without realising the significance of QUALITY.

Child labor is a serious issue. Much has to be done about it. A lot also rests with the business owners who are responsible for such situations.
Awareness is the key to remove child labor and work towards removing child poverty as well.
Thanks for writing an eye opener and giving it in your perspective here.

Dear Chitra,

This blog created a big controversy at the other site, as it got featured, and a blogger took exception to that, and posted a nother blog, saying “ I am Incensed”.He meant that Thi s lousy blog of mine, propogates Child Labour, and should not have been featured.

He got 900 hits and 70 comments, and I got 700 hits and 70 comments. You read the blog, did I anywhere mentuion that Child labour is good and cheap and one should keep children?????

Some people just want publicity and what better than ride piggy back on Kamalji’s back.HAHA,I am popular as it is, so criticizing me makes more sense to thim. All his other 15 blogs or so that he has posted till now, the maximum, hits he has are 150.

So Chitra sometimes Kamalji’s name helps eh !

You know, weh have to put the names of the workers, and their wages on the door of the office, and these Reps can check with the worker themselves what they are being paid.
This is clear interference I would say.

And they always insist to see our contracters, whom we say are our factories, as they don’t give work if u say u are getting it done from someoneelse.

Why do they bother what we do.You just look at the quality of the goods and the purchase price.Like they say :” Eat the mango, don’t bother about the tree from which it came from.

And Chitra, when we give our garments for bead work, the contractor takes it home, and hiw wie distributes the garments among ladies in the locality, with the threads and the beads. Now in a house , u will hae the MIL.DIL, grandchildren, like girls who come from school, who do the work, and say by evening all of them have made 100 /- worth work, sitting at home, doing in their spare time.

Now a child working at home , do u call that child labour ?

Thanks for yr kind comments, I spoke from the viewpoint of the businessman. We don’t create childlabour at all, and they aer of no use in our factories as we need strong people to work to lift heavy cartoons.

Regards.kamal
