Default Asking for a Lift

Dear All,
Asking for a lift - yes, i mean that. When travelling to a not- so familiar place, or the bus stand that you need to go is at a distance of about 2- 3 kms for which you dont want to hire an auto;in a hurry to reach hospital which is on the way, but no buses or autos at seen distance and getting late.

These are typical scenarios(i may have missed a lot) when we think, what if some one gives me a lift. Some times, we attempt for one, with no luck and sometimes it clicks.A kind hearted soul stops for you and picks you up.There again, the gender problem arises. If you in chennai(esp)and your a girl/women,you cannot trust a guy(mostly) to ask for a lift. That's what i feel.Again, no offense meant.Generally, we ladies opt to choose a lady scooty rider than a male biker.

My cousin is very good in asking for a lift.He keeps his face so bright and genuine and anyone who notices him is sure to pick him up.Personally, i'm not bold enough for this nor have i attempted.

Can you all share your good and bad experiences if you have asked for a lift.If not, what do you feel about this art of asking for a lift.

Waiting for your replies buddies.

Aishu,
Not yet mastered that art of asking for a lift...
One of the defense lessons in driving is that they say ignore those who ask for lifts...
some might be genuine..but some not...we cannot differentiate that...so don't take any chances....
till now..i follow that...

Dear Srini,
Thanks for the reply. You have a valid point.I have also not ventured into this concept only because i fear for those "non- genuine" ones especially with the crime scenerio at its peak in India.
Thanks for you time and views on this dear

My Dear Aishu,

I haven't faced any such situations like asking for a Lift ... Basically, I am scared and shy type... I always prefer to travel on my own instead of trusting or seeking anyone's help ... Being in Chennai, It is better to be without asking for a Lift dear ... Now-a-days, Kalam Ketupoyiruku pa ...

Hi ashu

I never dared to ask for a lift mainly because when I getback home My husband/Mom will screw me up for my act of bravery....They always feel I will be the next vulnerable person on this planet to be troubled

So thus i never wish to hurt them!! n thus dont go forward to ask for a lift

but on a general note we must promote this atleast among males because they are less vulnerable than female and in the due course we can save resources like petrol and reduce pollution as well as mae new friends!!

Cheers!!
Anu

Dear Aishu,

I normally dont ask for lift... Above all my luck... even if I try... I will never get it...

I dont take anybody in my vehicle also... no giving lift... I dont know how my luck will work... If something untoward happens, then I have to answer for him also...

This happened last my to my Office staff... Here in Muscat, there is no proper road transport... Only private shared taxis run... Two of my office staff one day took a lift and went in another Vehicle... That vehicle met with an accident and the Dri ver collapsed on the spot... and these two people got injured... Once person has to resign and go back to India...

Here we cannot debate, whether it is his luck or the drivers luck ... we dont know... But this has happened and the insurance complications etc...

So... Normally I avoid giving and taking lift...
