| Hi Shashi, Thanks for your clarification. But still leaves me wondering how disposing plastic/polythene covers in lakes won't raise objections.... Sorry to bother you with too many questions.. Cheers Krithika |

| hmm.. I just throw them away after emptying the contents... There are lot of things like that, if we want to follow "dont-throw-God-in-trash" Newpapers, any books, Curry leaves, chillies and what not we eat gets thrown away. Everything is God, ain't? I have seen people wearing Om t-shirts in a pub. Do you think it might be a best place for God to hangout.. So these all are trival things, me thinks.. Idol worship is to help us to gather our thoughts onto one object while we pray. Thus our thoughts dont wander [ Many might disagree as thats the place where they might sightsee and dream about other handsome people praying in front of them. Now thats a different story] Anyhoo, thats the base for Hinduism in the first place. Nothing much. There are some designated places in public as well as in our home. That should do it. Having them in bags, keychains and stuff it too much - There's nothing holy in it.. just business Nice thread, BTW !!

| Hi Nandhu, I do agree that there are lots of things that have significance of Gods/Goddesses attached to them. Having said that, there is some needling feeling to throw them in the trash (even though they are done for business and what not). Good that you feel this is trivial and there is no inhibition on your side. As I mentioned in the previous posts, yes there are "Om" shirts and even pictures on shoes..humanely impossible to go and stop/condemn them. Thanks for sharing your views here... | Hi Krithika, In my younger days, I used to have such turmoils in the mind and used to preserve all these covers/packings etc. Later as I grew up and after a lot of reading spiritual books, I came to the conclusion- We are all going to become one with the soil when we are no more, so why worry about petty things. As long as our belief in God is firm, we do not have to worry much about our disposing off the packings as we would any other garbage. If we see God in everything and everywhere then where ever these packings go, they are sure to merge with that Omnipresent. My hubby is the sentimental kind.Even the garlands that have been put on the pictures of Gods in the puja room should not be thrown into the dustbin. It has to be put in a separate cover and discarded either in a stream/pond/sea or in some place where no one would tread! All is in the mind and our belief system. As long as we are good human beings, these things don't matter. Regards, Malathi

| Krittika, I do feel the same way. Avoid throwing along with the other garbage. Even Iam scared throwing the invitation cards. Once I happened to hear the discourse of Sandeep Chaitanya. Acc to him all these are imaginary figures of someone-call it Ravi varma or anything else. How can you see pictures of Lakshmi with four hands, decked in gold etc. If we think rationally it is imagination. But my mother said once that "Most of these pictures are drawn on the basis of descriptions given by enlightened souls like Great Rishis who had the vision of Gods. Anyway I dare not throw the cover . But Iam compelled to do so with graet reluctance. kanaka |

| Hi Malathy, Sorry for the late reply ! I do agree that all is in the mind and we should see God in everything. Absolutely correct ! As of now, for me, I get this strange feeling to just discard these pictures on grocery items, covers, invitations etc. So, make it a point to collect it in a separate bag/bin and dispose separately. Thanks for sharing your inputs here !! Cheers Krithika Quote:

| Hi Kanaka, Me too, throw these covers and bags with lot of hesitation (it happens every time). Good that you had the experience of listening to the discourse of Sandeep Chaitanya. Thanks for joining us here and sharing your thoughts. Cheers Krithika Quote:
