Isnt that a cute line.. not that i am joining with them.. but still it sounds funny!.. Sure will save you space in the cruise. On a serious note I have seeen many houses run more rigidly and like a tight ship.. Maybe if we start young. and I mean very young.. they might tow the ship our way. :) |

The number of times I have heard of your line.. Like I told Lallu we should start training them when they are very small.. Like you say instead of getting asking them to do its better to get things done ourselves. I have heard of some tricks in the Parents magazines that I have tried out.. 1. Set the kitchen timer for 30 minutes and everyone rush and get work done during that time limit.. its quick, neat and gets jobs done.. more like a game 2. Give some extra benefit to finish chores 3. Write all the chores ina box and each one picks one at random and gets things done within the time limit again! Let me know if you try any :) |

| Dear AC, Reading your post i tried to imitate the great Shevaliar Shivaji (Ulla azhugiraen Veliya Sirikaren), Oh boy all men and kids are the same everywhere. In the beginning dayz of my married life even i thought of getting helping hands, but very soon i realized , itz better it drown in a sea than asking him to help me with the stuff. Me and my parents strictly adhere to the way of keeping that that things in that that place. But is the other extreme in my In-laws house. I was confident that i cannot change them, so i never intended to ask them help me out. Dont Know whether u have heard about a very famous characterisation of the ace director K..Balachander. In one of his drama and movie he portrayed actor Major Sundarrajan as Major Chandrakanth. That character will go blind due to some reason. One day a thief will get into his house. And this man will easily trace it out and catch him. When the culplrit enquires how he managed to do it.The Major will tell him, since me being blind i alwayz keep my things in the same place, i count the steps from one destination to another.Today i realized few things were not in the appropriate place so i guessed someone has enterd the house. I understand i'm boring you, the reason behind the narration is; my parents will keep on telling us the story |

You got it down pat... I think its also a mental frame of mind. More likely called Division of Labor! Since you have not mentioned any little ones in your reply i am not sure of the situation. Because I feel many thing and arrangements can work out when kids are not there. Kids to add a lot to the mix because they demand so much more of you and your time and energy. Hence little setbacks to all detailed and carefully laid out plans.. Like the No admission policy.. that way you ensure no mess too! way to go aussie:) |

am little saddened to hear this.. I dont why its so! Like you say these women before us have done all this but now when its our turn they do turn around too! Though I have written in a humor way I have to say my family is more supportive.. Even my motherinlaw did the exact same thing you describe my fatherinlaw used to take matters into his hands and step in and set things right. In fact you he did more work in the kitchen than others. And during the latter part of his lifetime, he totally said nothing about all this oddities and just went about doing the work. However the times we get more annoyed is when we get tired physically. Its not like we are in our early 20's ot so.. age is catching up and other sickness too. SO sometimes we just have enough time to do only the basic work.. and these small lack of courtesies do get us annoyed... |

| Dear AC That was a very cute ,hilarious description about the "MY WAY" syndrome. ![]() When one needs help desperately and there's no response from family members..patience goes for a toss. ![]() I have an idea.. how about turning plates the "MY WAY" style and make them forgo their favourite TV show or fav menu for a day and announce.. "This is my way?" ![]() ![]() Regards Honeybee |
