| Dear friends, I got my driver's license exactly 5 months ago...ok, that was the hottest news then.. I was eager to see what I had gained after 1. No no, not the weight.. I didn't gain any weight, in fact I lost some, (according to my parents) that's what they feel when they see their children.... 2. Gained some confidence and this was a little bit shattered when I drove on to a small pavement with shrubs, thanks to it..it didn't make any dent... 3. Gained the notion from my children that I would take them anywhere at anytime..to school, to their friends house, to the parties, to the theatres, and to other places on their list.. 4. Last but not the least, I gained 'BACK-ACHE' because of this additional job... If I drive for more than an hour either continously or at intervals, I am sure to get one .. even today I am having one..I hope it will vanish as I am used to it,(in the days, months or years to come) I just remembered a joke in this regard..(used to...) One day a man went to the astrologer to look at his horoscope and asked him, if there are any remedies for his suffering...the astrologer said...wait for 6 months and you will be alright...This man got excited and asked the astro --Am i relieved from my suffering? To this the astrologer answered"no way...by that time, you will be used to this".. How is that??? sriniketan

| Dear Bhargavi Interesting to read your observations.. 1. Good to hear about weight:) 2. Dont worry about the dent.. these things happen.. also you are safe which is more important 3. Children are like that.. what to do? 4. sorry to hear about the back ache.. liked your joke.. heard it thru dh who is a big joke fan.. take care:) |

| Hi Bhargavi, Had a good laugh...but sorry to know about your back ache. Take care of it...don't get used to it. Once you start driving around, yes it does gives confidence and there since public transport system is not as sound as India..driving around helps. I and my DH too have an arguement every few days for me now not driving around in Pune. But here the traffic sense is pathetic and i just don't feel like venturing out on my own that too driving a vehicle. |

| Hi Sriniketan, First let me be sorry for your back-ache.Take good care of health. I think there will be rather should be balance in everything in nature. You gave the best example. If we need something we should be ready to loose some other. If we see them sperately one may cost more but when you combine with situation it will balance.

| Had a good laugh Srini. You come up with such simple things that happen daily and make us think about them! I enjoy it. True, sometimes we wonder if really we should've "improved" ourself in a particular area. Well, like everyone has said, take care of your back. Back issues have a way of snowballing into something nasty. Not trying to scare you but just be cautious. I love to drive and I like to be as independent as possible. I thought it was a good thing. But like you have said, I soon realized how it is not exactly so good as I thought it to be. Because of my independent nature, hubby thinks I can do most things on my own and so he does not even ask me if I need help or if he should do it! As for driving, during both pregnancies I was driving myself to the doctor's office until the last day. Why? Because I was paying for my love for driving! So yes, sometimes we all wonder what did we gain! SS |

| Thanks Anu for your kind words...I laughed to my heart's content on hearing this joke from my uncle... SS, sure to take care of the back ache. thank you so much for your kind words....now trying home-remedies like sleeping on the floor, using Iodex and the like...adjusting the car seat... Good to see that you enjoy driving...your narration made me think of dialogue I had with my cousin's wife recently...She said that as she is driving and doing all the jobs we are supposed to do, her DH( my cousin) is not going to the shops at all and asks her to do the same... sriniketan
