Default My beloved hubby ran for his life twice.

My beloved hubby twice ran for his life!

In the year 1972 in the month of December Telco Workers Union called for a strike. The strike continued for a long time. Supervisory staff was forced to attend duty and was warned that if they absented they would be subject to disciplinary action and might be even discharged. So my hubby had to attend duty. The supervisory staff was subject to great risk as workers obstructed them at the gate and pelted stones at their vehicles.
During the strike riding on vehicle was risky and so my hubby used to go by taxi. One day while returning from duty striking workers were waiting outside the gate and they started chasing him. He ran for his life and found another group waiting at the next turning. He saw one standing with his legs wide apart and he just bent and went through within a split of a second. The crowd did not expect this and then they started chasing him again. He ran and found the door open in a house and ran inside and bolted the door from inside. He went and hid himself under a cot. After a few minutes some people came and knocked at the door. The lady of the house was washing clothes at the back yard and she came and opened the door. When they asked her whether any one entered the house, she replied in the negative as she herself was not aware of a man hiding in her front hall under a the cot.. When she returned my hubby came out of his hiding placeand to his surprise, he found that she was a known south Indian lady. The lady also was surprised to see him, but as my hubby was known to all Tamilians she kept her cool. Then my hubby had narrated to her all that had happened. He took shelter there until he came to know that the road was clear for him to leave. He thanked the lady and returned home. Really this was a hair- raising experience for him. As he was swift footed and could run like a hare he was able to save himself from the dangerous onslaught.
In the year 1984 a second time he had to run for his life. This time he went to drop my brother at the station in the evening. Jamshedpur was notorious for goons. They had invented a modus operandi to attack the people going on two wheelers. There was a turning where the vehicle has to slow down. The goons will push a child in front of the two wheeler unexpectedly, and when the rider stopped the vehicle they would surround him and would start giving blows saying that the child got hurt. Then the person has to beg them to stop their violent behaviour and agree to pay compensation for the faked accident. My beloved hubby was the target on that day. But after the faked accident he stopped the vehicle to see what had happened. A goon gave him a blow on his shoulder. Then my hubby dropped the vehicle and started running. His colleague who was a union leader was staying near by. He ran to his house and the crowd also followed him. They made a big scene and told that they were going to give a police complaint and the child needed hospitalizing. His colleague was not in a position to help my hubby but he was able to pacify them as he was also a local rowdy.. He promised them that he would see that the medical expenditure incurred would be compensated. The police also were in collusion with the goons. My hubby came home with a blood clotted shoulder. Later he had to pay 10,000 bucks to the goons and the police for no fault of his. The loan amount that I had taken for my daughter’s marriage, was shelled out to the goons. Any way we pacified ourselves thinking, “Thalaikku vanthathu thalai paakaiyotu poyiRRu.” You could just imagine how we would have felt at that time.
Later in our life we had more bitter experiences. By the Grace of the Almighty we had the courage to grin and bear every thing. Our life is stranger than fiction. I am giving you the glimpses of our life on and off. I feel we had become like rock after going through the stony path of life. We had witnessed two communal riots and curfews. In spite of all this we enjoyed our life at the steel city which had our nostalgic moments also.

Dear Pushpa
O.M.G. you have described the way it happens in movies, so scary to hear in real life. You really have a strong family. Let the Almighty bless your family with safety and happiness.
I will tell you one incident that I have seen, I am from a city where hindu muslims fights are always going on especially during holi, cricket match between India pakistan, election etc.......such occasions there is sure there will be fight so well in advance we can see police everywhere.
So once during cricket match can't remember now which one Pakistan lost the match so one of the muslim guy went to one of the hindu family's house and just put the talwar into his tummy and this hindu family was my neighbour and we could see everything happening from our house window.
So when I read your post just though by the grace of Almighty he is safe and God has protected him. so many such things happen sometimes it is so frightful to move out alone too.

Dear pushpa mam,

May u and your husband be blessed with a long and healthy life....what u narrated sounds unbelievable...real life drama....like u said this will bring out the best in you and u might find many hardships trivial...ones perception of something good or bad in life is totally what he or she has been subjected to in life.....

Dear Aruna,
In the year 1964 a cummunal riot started and we were at Jamshedpur. I had just reached Jamshedpur taking my new born second baby and the riot started immediately. My brother and s-i-l who accompanied me had just returned to Chennai. Our neighbour was a muslim. We had the good fortune of saving the whole family as my hubby brought a taxi and sent them away to a camp. But one of the daughters lost her voice due to shock. When the second time when the riots started again in the late seventies, I was also working . Daily we were escorted to the office with security, yet we had to keep our fingers crossed till we reached office and again back home. At the beginning we were confined in the office for two days. Our life is packed with a lot of dramatic scenes from kinapping to murder and what not. But we were saved by the Lord each and every time. We had many more adventures and all these trials and tribulations made us strong in will power and also staunch believers in "THE SUPER POWER". Thanks for all the support and appreciation getting from our ILite family.
Love,
PS

Dear Pushpaji,

It was sad to read these incidents.People hurting and killing in the name of communalism is so gross. Where is the essence of living? All along we just spend our life protecting it, rather than living it.

I think it was divine intervention that both the times your husband found a place to go to for help. You never know in whos form GOD presents HIMSELF!!

Thanks for sharing these incidents here.

Love,
Devika

Dear Devika,
It is really disheartening to see and hear things happening around us. Just a day before I read in the news that India is leading in murder crimes. The land of Buddha and Mahathma Gandhi who preached ahimsa has been changed to a land of murderers.
Love,
PS
