Unhappy Public display of affection - Rule needed

Dear Ilites,

Unfortunately my thread about PDA in theatres earlier was deleted without information arbitrarily...
Due to overexposure of Obscene films, TV serials and Internet sites, youngsters are finding it fashionable to have girl friends/ boyfriends and talk about ‘relationships before wedding’, ‘chilling out at movies’, ‘necking’ etc when all they are supposed to be doing is studies, attending college regularly...
In theatres, it becomes very embarrassing when such 'couples' display affection physically with total disregard to neighboring spectators who may include young children and decent couples who may find their mischievous and naughty behavior objectionable and even obnoxious...
Everything should have a limit...

Govt which slap bans on smoking and drinking should also look at such socially degrading practices from young unmarried couples which cause embarrassment and interferes with their enjoyment of a film or a calm walk on a beach at night

What say, friends?

Nkumar

I totally agree with you Sir....

Public display of affection is not necessary...moreover as the western culture is on its way to Asian countries, especially India, where the entire culture is different, which is of course, superior to other cultures (in this regard)( no offense intended)..we cannot accept those displays as good and best...

I wonder when I see Westerners (public figures) holding their spouses' hands while they appear in public- are they holding hands because they are afraid that their spouse may go off, leaving them? Is their love so flimsy that they have show this way- to convince themselves and others, that they love each other?
Seriously, one doesn't need to show one's love in public, the concern will have to be there in times of hardships.

Hi N kumar,

I had a similar blog entry some time back PDA : Do you approve??,

Well I think its imperative that certain level of modesty be observed whether here , or in West simply because firstly we need to respect elders enough so as to not make a spectacle in front of them putting them at unease
and secondly the young tender minds of children shouldnt get the worng signals at an age when they are get easily influenced and confused as well.
I do see this display on the rise and seriously think that some kind of behavioural pattern needs to be maintained in public before this kind of display graduates into something worse.

Mr. Kumar,

I agree with you. Why let the government intervene in such personal matters. Being a human being and having six senses we should know how to behave in the public.

Long back i read in a Tamil magazine about an interview with a director and a question was raised by one of the reporters "Public say that children learn unwanted things only from the media especially from movies and what do you say about that?". The director replied that they shoot these scenes only after seeing in reality.

If something happens somewhere, most of us are not aware of it unless it is telecast ed in the TV/ newspaper or any media. By watching obscene scenes, more children get affected.

This problem is not only there with the boys/girls before marriage but with newly wed couples too.

For people who behave like this in the public should be imprisoned at least for few hours so that its a lesson for them and for the others too.
