What do you think of Hindi movies? I think they are a greater treat as far as costumes setup goes.. ic ould be wrong since I dont watch either language. Thats what I have heard:)

It was a big celebration for our parent's generation whether it was for a movie or pattu katcheri. They use to drape themselves in pattu saree and it would appear as a big utsavam. Ofcourse those were the only enjoyments they had. But still there was some innocence- crying with the heroine cursing the villain and what not. kanaka

Not just for parents even for me.. it used to be a big thing. Also like you say pattu kutchery. I used to goto the nearby temple where we got to hear free kutcheris close to Vinayaka Chathurthi. And like you say so much fun cursing the villain and the hero always wins:)
