A few years ago I visited a school for visually challenged children in Bangalore. It is the Ramana Maharishi school. The children were amazing. They are taught so many life-skills. Some of them have a dance troupe.
A very nice piece of writing!

My friend agreed and very meekly her daughter asked me ,"Whats it Maasi?" The way she asked and i felt so helpless that i couldnt explain, she had never seen lights, colours. I was moved to tears and couldnt control myself. I wound up the windows of the cab then realised it wouldnt help. What would help this doll and many like her was donating the eyes.
The next day I pledged my eyes and was very relieved of the burden that i had carried from the previous day.

My Dear Dear Sudha,

Thankyou so very much for writing in.I am sure you know I await your presence. Glad you liked the story and the title.
Yes I too agree that it was very magnanimous of Sanjana to come to terms with her terrible loss and take a great decision one that would provide her with the satisfaction of having an integral part of her husband and a lovely daughter.

Love,
Devika

Another gem from you! So heart wrenching, at the same time felt happy that a young life benefited with the eye donation. Also that Sanjana could take care of this little one.....a sensitive story with a message for donating and reconciling with a loved one's death!
And what an apt title.....adopted vision.....superb![/quote]

Dear Devika,

I can only imagine what a beautiful heart you must have to write such a beautiful story!

The title is also apt and, somehow no one has mentioned as yet, but the name of the little girl is even more apt! - Nayana (a version of "Naina" meaning eyes),
just lovely, Devs.

I loved the story.

It has made me want to pledge my eyes now, something which i have been putting off since many years. I wanted to do this since a young age, when I once took part in a contest about eye donation where we had to draw a poster. I sent in a couple of entries and won on one of them.

Congrats on the nomination as well!
best,
hasita

Reading your 'Adopted Vision' will leave everyone with blurred vision because it is so moving and pulls at the heartstrings.
With this, you have served a double whammy Devika. Not only do we get to read a lovely story, our conscience also gets a jolt and moves one to do something worthwhile when still alive and healthy.
Thank you for this worthy vision.

L, Kamla

My Dear Maitrini,

Yours have always been a very integral Fb, right from the time I began here and I am so blessed that you have an encouraging heart ever so motivating me and the others here to do more.
That actually speaks volumes about you.
Yes there is still some skepticism regarding organ transplant, just wanted to write something as my contribution in spreading awareness.
Glad you liked it L.

Love,
Devika
