Dear SS, Your comments are special to me always.Bcs they are better than my blog. See SS, I knew 10 years back that at 45, these good business days and profits will not last forever. We had a great run, we exporters. We were getting Govt Subsidies on Garment Exports to the tune of 20%, good profits from buyers, good quantities, and best of all , we exporters were exempt from paying Income Tax of 30%, which others used to pay. I knew this was too good tolast, and that rainy days are not far ahead, as is the empty nest syndrome, daughters growing up, soon to get married etc. So i and wife steeled ourselves for the ineviotable, and i took to new technology like chatting, blogging, email, and then solvign Suduko, writing on my PC, before blogging came in thepicture, and started to save more and spend less. So today i dontlack anything, and have a great time the whold ay, listening to musing on the pc, watching my old home movies, and just about having a ball. Thanks for the great comments, and am glad ur parents are like me.And i hope when u reach my age, u too spread the cheer around and be cheerful too.Life is too short to be sad really. Regards.kamal |

| Dear Kamalji nice post. Glad that you are relaxed and free to do whatever you feel like without the pressure of a job.As long as one knows how to keep themselves occupied and useful , it is all that matters. I know of a guy in his mid forties, who made a lot of money in real estate. He does not need to work but feels that if he stayed home, he would be picking arguments with wife.Hence feels justified to work. |

| Dear Kamalji, That is a great post… Happy to note that you are a free bird and enjoying the life… All the best to enjoy your life to the fullest extent. There are some people who cant sit idle, even if they have retired from their job and had completed all their responsibilities… It is their nature… Work has been imbibed in their blood… What to do… But I will not fully agree with you that they are not enjoying their life… It is their way of enjoying their life… I will tell you one classic example… I had one collegue of mine… who use dot work with me for a very meager salary… He used to be taken for task at times… But he never used to be worried… He used to enjoy but… hahahahaha… One day, I happened to see a fax from one of the leading international bank about fixed deposit… I was astonished looking at the figure… and this was addressed to that person… In short… my one year salary is his per month interest income… hahahahaha… But he enjoys working… Had I been in that position… I will be sitting at home and enjoy life with family…. At the end of the day… It is the mental make up of the person… Now… I am waiting for my number…. Veda

| Kamalji, what you have said makes absolute sense. It took me almost 2years to convince my mom that it is ok to live independently and enjoy life as well. God has given her the opportunity to lead life as she wants for once - she can do exactly as she pleases and is not bound by any limitations. For a change, she is not a mother, wife, sister daughter, DIL but just a grandmom who can simply enjoy her grandchildren when they visit her for a month or two. Finally she is living life with out any responsibilities and is actually liking it and so is my FIL. Now both of them have a lot better understanding of being samdhis and can relate to each other better :) Finally, I do believe it is a gift and a knack to learn to live as a free bird - after so many years of working, doesn't come naturally to everyone. You are indeed blessed and since you are enjoying life so much, you are helping readers like me enjoy with your blogs. It reflects :) |

Dear Usha, Well we all work for money, that is what we say.But if god is kind and gives us money early, then why work ? I have worked for more than 35 years, out of 55. is that not enough ? Should i die working ? Now i have the whole day to myself,. blogging, reading, watching movies on the DVD,havint time to invest my money in Mutual funds and other avenues, all this i did not have time for before. And i love going to malls just for time pass, take my wife there any time i fancy, she shops for fruits and veggies, and i look at the pretty crowd tht goes by, having a coffee or a sandwitch there. Well those who want to work till they die, they are welcome.HAAH.Not for me that.Regards.kamal |

U are waiting for what ? Money or retirement.HAHA. Well when I used to work, it is a full time job.As an employer, I have to find work to first take care of salaries and then other expenses, and then keep some for myself. If I was an employee, then boss is the boss.I will have to attend office, and meet the targets.U cant takle time off toplay with yr grandchild, or go for Teeth Yatra,or anything. I am free to do what I want, whenever I want.I sacrificed a little to save money for my retirement, and im glad I did.I did not go for cruises, nor for the weekend outstation holidays which cost these days 25000 and above, and many such things, and I invested tht money in Mutual Funds, and Bank Deopists, which have now grown to give me a steady income. In face I am earning and spending more now than I did when I was working. And I have so much to do now.Blogging is one of them.HAHA. Regards. kamal |
