Let me tell u your mother was very modern in her approach to life.she encouraged u to move out of the house, study and be self sufficient, very different from what she led her life. My grandmother, she died 90 or so, was very mordern too. When her youngest son did not marry till 35, and having stayed abroad, for many years, she told him if u dont like our choice, get yours , but marry and hav a family. Her husband expired while on a job abroad, in the 40's and she never got to see the body, forget the ashes.and she received the news on Diwali day.And with 4 kids, u can imagine her plight a widow at 30 or so.And not getting to see yr husband's body ever. But like in the movies, she carried on, stitching blouses for neighbours, and sending her children aborad all 4 of them, and today thanks to her, Dad, uncles and us all are what we are bcs of her. Great woman, yr mom, hats off to her.If i was her child, i would wish to be born her child for ages and ages, again and again.God was kind to u to give her to u as yr mother. Regards.kamal |

| Another beautifully written snippet and a wonderful tribute to your great mother. Your writing was so full of life and it was like I could vision everything as it happened. I am sure you are also a great mother and your children look up to you with the same love you saw in your mother. regards, priya |

| Dear Mithila, I am depressed at present nd am feeling very very low. Usually, I am a cheerful person, trying to find goodness in even bad situations and trying to see them from another point of view. But I am also a human being and so am depressed now. When I read about your father's demise, the most auspicious occasion which became th sadest, I could not control the tears rolling down my cheeks. I have experienced many unhappy situations in my life, but this is really most unfortunate. And your mother's courage had inspired not only her, but me too once again, to face life boldly and with a smile. I thank you for sharing your thoughs about a wonderful human being and I thank that Mahaan personality where ever she is! |
