    Just for fun........

I think currently no one would want to be in the shoe of Rahul Gandhi. A party looking for leadership and is getting badly bruised in elections after elections and him having no answer. Anyone would have felt to run away (Oh! he already did), but he can't because of the huge legacy of his family. He has to contemplate about his and his party's future.

But it is very dificult for him to decide. There are so many conflicting issues that he has to think through. No wonder he needs to be alone to meditate and get an answer.

First of all, what profession to choose. His uncle died flying a plane while his profession being politics. His father died handling politics while his profession being that of a pilot. Really difficult to choose. No wonder he keeps on occasionally flying in airplane (not as a pilot) while attending politics occasionally.

Second, what demeanor, dress, style to adorn. There are two style icons currently - Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi.

Should he wear expensive designer wear like modi or go for simple clothes like AK. Or go for a combination of an expensive designer shirt/kurta with aam aadmi pant.

Should he keep beard like Modi or just keep Mustache like AK or settle for something like a french cut beard or a goatee.

Should he speak loudly like Modi or speak softly like AK (with coughing in between) or combine both and speak loudly with coughing in between.

Should he put a silk shawl on his shoulder like Modi or wear a muffler like AK or combine both and wear a silk muffler.

Should he remain a bachelor (for all practical purposes) like Modi or marry like AK or combine both and have an occasional girl friend.

Should he practice Yoga like Modi or Vipasana like AK or combine both and do a "dance yoga" in a vipasana setting (on foothills or Hrishikesh).

    Very difficult to decide.

On the policies, it is even more difficult to decide. India is at the same cross road as his great grandfather, Nehru was when India got Independence (Highly recommend the book "The Commanding Heights" for reading). At the time of India's independence, there were two ideologies which were prominent and getting support in various countries of the world - Socialism and Capitalism. It was difficult to implement Socialism with the country being just formed from all the separate princely states combined. Capitalism was difficult to implement as there was not much infrastructure and capital for Capitalism to grow. No wonder Nehru settled for a socialist democratic republic.

Today, India is also at a similar crossroads. Socialist-Left (self reliance) ideas of AAP are getting popular, while crony capitalism ideas of BJP and Modi (trying to survive in a religious-Right ideology) is needed for accelerating the future growth of the country.

So what policies to represent in such a situation? Should give out subsidies and freebies to people or go for the growth of industries and infrastructure. If he goes for the former, he would be impacting the exchequer significantly, If he goes for the later, he would be hailed as corrupt (driven by the Ambanis and Adanis of India).

One would think it would be easy to give freebies to people, but it is not. What kind of freebie one can give a person who has free housing, free wifi, free water, free electricity (given by AAP) and 15 lakhs deposited in the bank (given by Modi)? Maybe give two sets of clothes per month and 8 rotis per person per day - that is the only thing remaining.

About tall election promises, should he do a namesake attempts to fulfill that tall promises like BJP or fulfill that promises like AAP with a list of fine prints suddenly appearing.

So, it is very difficult decision for him, no wonder he has gone into oblivion.

Friends, he really needs help and suggestions. Please give him suggestions.

My suggestion to him would be that he should take all the ancient books of India and read them like his great grandfather, Nehru did and do a Discovery of India. Maybe he should sign up for "Man's Mission to Mars". If the technology works and he is able to return, he will be a hero. If not, he will have done a great service to mankind :)notthatway:, but learning about space technology and Mars).

Please share your suggestions for him.

Popular 'experts' in the telly will advise to buy a stock when it is at it's historic low.

So is it time to buy RaGa stocks?

I actually feel sorry for the chap. He is clearly not a natural-born politician. He may have been happier and more successful had he felt free to lead a life of his own choosing. The family legacy appears to be his albatross.

    Hehheeeeeee.. Good one dear.
Enjoyed reading. I too felt the same way. Anyone in his place would have run away as he was in the spotlight even after failing in the elections. He would have been fed up with the media for catching him take a nap and not being seriously involved in political activities.

But I say poor chap, See we people are all struggling to earn a good living and be happy with our family. But he even after having enough money can’t enjoy his life.... He can’t go even on a small break even some of the citizens of India are spending lakhs on world tour and honeymoons.........
He can’t go and enjoy a coffee and a movie at PVR just because the budget session is nearing...... Wat a tragedy. He might have taken this short break because he knows once he becomes the party president his life is going to be worse........ In tamil varachatizil iruthu erichatizil (horrible spelling) from a frying pan to a oil pan....

    Witty!

    Love the write-up!

With the way the current govt is going, I would not be surprised to see RaGa back in action the next election around.

    @Akanksha1982
Nice thread! I have a completly different mind set about Sonia ,Rahul and Priyanka.
After the tragic death of Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia was not interested in politics. But all of them did have grudge against LTTE and Prabhakaran. Congress was doing very badly after Rajiv's death since congress members themselves had lots of problems inside the party all fighting for the chair. That was the time when top members pleaded sonia to join politics. She had the language problem. Not only that She did not want to see anymore death in the family, having lost her MIL, and her husband. Then she thought of taking revenge on LTTE for her husbands death plus V P singh and other political parties who was hand in gloves with LTTE for planning Rajivs death trap.
She agreed for entering into politics and she took the support of DMK to get to know secret whereabouts of Prabahakaran. That was the condition put on to DMK to give them prominent post in the cabinet. She successfully achieved what she wanted. She eliminated LTTE completely with Srilankan Govt. After achieved what she wanted, now she is not interested in politics anymore. She does not want her children anymore in politics. she wants them to be alive and safe. Thats the reason she did'nt do anything to win the last election.
All this was well planned strategy.

Sorry for the long post. Maybe Im wrong, just thought of sharing my views.:)
