Law is based on the views of the majority. True justice lies in the extermination of minority, which is not really an idealist views of a democracy therefore there is no way in which the minority can be eliminated, rather it can be accepted in mute recognition, so we can come to the conclusion that there is no real justice in this insane world. Unless one believes in democracy were there is a majority and a minority; that is justice.
AV - give us more clarity on this. See this example: It is a minority of the population that engages in criminal and anti-social activities. Am not referring to any particular group but as a percentage of the total population. The safety of the total population to be upheld by the laws of the land, including the minority. So is it insane or sane? Safety is viewed not as from majority point of view but in entirety - isn't it?
Democracy in its real sense the rule of the people. It came from Greece. Majority will rule that does not mean safety is not there. Because inside a country everybody is living. Everyone has rights and responsibilities. Justice is always blind. It does not look for majority or minority.
What is justice to me, could be injustice to you. Nothing will please everyone. Democracy is not the views of the majority in countries like India and USA. Majority elects a group of people who we think are smart enough to make good decisions and we leave the decisions to them. Mostly, they make good decisions and listen to the minority and valid concerns. Imagine if all laws were passed by the people through voting. Now that would be a serious issue.
Dear Anu, Only in true democracy, the minority is allowed to freely express their views without any fear. In other forms of governments, neither majority nor minority have any say. Legislations are made by the elected members and they are applicable to all including the elected members. Viswa
