Dear aishu,
I was in the seventh std.was a very mischievous student and was in similar minded company of about five to six girls. We never liked handwork class. We had to stitch, sew, that was not my cup of tea.I would try my level best to avoid these periods. Our usual excuse to the handwork teacher would be,"We have drama practice now ,madam.Champa teacher has asked us to take your permission and come for practice".She would immediately give permission,we would roam around the school,go to smaller classes where the teacher was not present and would mind the classes.Go to the canteen. We would return to class when there were not more than five minutes for the bell to go.
The poor teacher, good hearted soul that she was never found out the truth.

Dear Ilite Friends.
This prank is the one I cherish of all pranks. This was played on me by my younger brother on April First .A few years back. But the memory is still fresh...

Very early one morning, when I was still fast asleep. My younger brother phoned me at my in-laws house. He sounded really very angry. When I enquired, he snapped at me saying .''How many times have I asked you to keep your dog chained in the morning hours''
He said he had come to his friend for some notes.(His friend's house is near my house)and while he was returning home, our dog PLUTO saw my brother and started chasing his bike, ( this our dog loved to do n we were very fedup with its this habbit )And as my brother was turning to the main road, a fast driving bus drove over our dog.And it was lying on the road dead in a pool of blood.
He asked me to arrange for someone to take the dead dog off the road,as people there known to us were talking about our carelessness in a bad way.
As it was still early morning,I asked him to arrange for someone. But he replied angrily he was getting late for college and banged the phone down.

Hearing me talk worriedly so early on the phone,my mom-in-law n my sis-in-law asked what the matter was.I narrated to them what my brother had told me...my eyes were brimming with tears(due to the tragic end of our dog n and my younger brother had scolded me badly for my carelessness.)

Hearing the news all were shocked n sad.My mom-in-law said, poor dog it used to very active n alert during the night time.My sis-in-law said stupid dog must have run hearing the sound of the bike..This type of discussion went on for a few min n like arranging for someone to take away the dog n so on...

In the meantine my brother-in-law who was in the other room called me out in a calm voice. He said ''Bhabhi'' be calm, our dog will b back in no time.(n I thought he must have lost his mind...)Coolly he asked me check the date...(And lo so stupid of me) then it dawned on me it was first of APRIL..(APRIL FOOLS DAY)
I felt like twisting my by brother's ears really very hard...But we had a hearty laugh amid my tears.
Actually I used to be under this impression that nobody could April Fool me..Because I used to be alert....But as I was in my deep sleep when the phone rang, and I did not find anything fishy, n even the date did not creep into my mind I was fooled..
It was always me who always April fooled others..But my own brother fooled me..
Every year I remember this incident on April Fools day n I always laugh on myself...

Love Moonbeams..

Hi all
Here's mine.. my very first prank at the age of 6.

Every year I used to visit my maternal grandparents in kerala for summer holidays .I used to wait eagerly to enjoy with my cousins.I was 6 years old when this incident happened.

My grandparents' house was a huge one with a sprawling garden and we were outdoors every afternoon playing in the hot sun. There was a common tap outside the house which was frequented by girls and women from the neighbourhood. Our favourite past time was keeping track of the number of people who came to fetch water . I was particularly fond of a girl , a little older than me who used to stand near the gate, smile at us and watch us play.

One fine day after lunch my mom and her siblings were recollecting their childhood days and they had a hearty laugh remembering how my uncle once gave his friend a small stone wrapped in chocolate wrapper and how the poor victim broke his tooth biting into it without suspecting the prank! Needless to say I was fascinated by the whole concept and wanted to give it a try.

The next day I began hunting for a small stone and was promptly noticed by my big brother Cheenu (my aunt's son) who was in Class V . He asked me what I was doing and I innocently told him my plans. He became enthusiastic and promised to help me.He wanted to know on whom I wanted to play the trick.. and I promptly replied " the girl near the gate".Being wise enough he told me.."Let's not break somebody's tooth with a stone plus it's an old idea.

I will make a couple of small clay moulds resembling eclairs , you can wrap it up and hand it over." I happily nodded my head.
That evening we specifically requested my uncle to get us eclairs. He raised an eyebrow and asked "Why only eclairs? won't anything else do?"Those days the local vendor near my grandparents place did not stock up expensive chocolates like eclairs or cadburys bars because the localites would never purchase them .They were content with the five paise chocolates and small jaggery moulds. To buy cakes, eclairs and the like we had to travel 2 kms to reach the nearest bakery. We did not want to spill the beans and told him that we knew his plans for the evening and since he would be going to the market we wanted him to get us the chocolates too.He agreed.

Early the next morning my brother began his experiment. He examined each eclair before gulping it and made 4 clay eclairs in perfect shape and size. I retained the wrappers intact and was eagerly waiting for the clay eclairs to dry.The mock eclairs were ready in the afternoon. Cheenu told me.."Go and give her the chocolates but ask her to take it home and share it with her siblings." We had been very careful all along and the whole process was a guarded secret.Every time an elderly person asked us what was going on, we used to say "playing with clay" .

That afternoon I quietly slipped out ,saw the girl standing near the gate and flashed a brilliant smile. She was excited and smiled back.I gave her the chocolates and told her to take them home and have them. Her eyes lit up.It was probably the first time somebody was offering her expensive chocolates. She quickly popped a chocolate into her mouth, tasted clay and spit it out at once. She left the place weeping uncontrolably.

I was in tears too,I wanted to have some fun but did not expect my prank to hurt an innocent girl's expectations.I ran home, narrated the incident to my mom and cried.
Cheenu scared me saying "You should never go out all alone , your friend might bring her brothers along and beat you up."

I was frightened to step out of the house and to my luck the girl did not turn up for the next couple of days.I began relaxing. That evening Cheenu and I went for a walk. On our way back I bumped into this girl..Cheenu promptly abandoned me and ran away.

She gave me a cold stare and asked me in malayalam "Nee endhu kaaryam cheidhu? ("What did you do?" )
I understood, but could not reply back.In half baked malayalam I replied "Mittai thandhu" translating to "I gave you chocolates".
In a stern voice she asked me " IdhaaNo mittai "? ("Is this called chocolate?")
I wanted to ask her "Why did you accept it from me and eat it without taking a proper look at it ?" in malayalam. Instead of asking "Thanne AaraNa nokkathe kazhikkaan paran nyadhu ?", I asked.. "Veandaam paran nyileeeeeeeeeeeeee? "
She burst out laughing hearing my answer, rather my malayalam and we became good friends .
Even to this day my cousins tease me with the nick name "Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeee".

Dear Moonbeams
Thanks & appreciate your patience for reading through my l..o..n..g post. MB your involvement amazes me, you wanting to know the literal translation of what I uttered to that girl..
I did not know how to speak malayalam and goofed up using tamil + slang malayalam.
So here goes the translation...

I asked.. "Veandaam paran nyileeeeeeeeeeeeee? "
"Veandaam" in tamil means "NO /to refuse"
"parayu"in malayalam means "to say/tell"
I used this combo to ask "Why didn't you say a NO?" but in reality I appended a "nyilee" to it (even to this day I am trying to figure out what it means!) and uttered "Veandaam paran nyileeeeeeeeeeeeee?"
Hope I have made myself clear!
Regards
HB
