Dear Ria,

Thanks for chipping in with the wonderful incident about this amazingly strong woman.
Absolutely awesome!!

Mothers have been bestowed by the miraculous power that forms the foundation for the children to thrive on. I admire my Mother's will power and her never say die attitude. No matter what happened she continued.... Being a widow and a single mother in our Indian society is not very easy. Every move of yours is closely monitored and anything that you do that is not in sync with the pattern that society has chalked out for you is looked at with raised eyebrows, but then she tread through all that and emerged successful for us and herself.
She is no less than God to us ,infact I place her higher than God!

Love,
Devika
quote=ria2006;303828]Wow! A very thought provoking tribute.

I normally am tough one to feel the lump in throat. But I did by end of your post. Courage in face of crisis is all that is worth a legacy for any kid in world. Sometime we learn so much from other's story too. I mean we all treasure our parents's teaching, life's teachings .. but somewhere other's life also touches us and make us stand there speechless. Your story did that to me.. Hats off to your mom and you for pulling this off so strongly and so graciously.

Your story reminded me of my encounter in train. I met this vibrant, beautiful and powerhouse lady, Who must be in her forties. She was so lively that within five minutes of entering the train compartment, she talked to everybody and got everyone talking. Before her, we were just waiting for train to go. It was some twelve years back. But I can rewind it fresh in my mind. So you can imagine what powerful effect she left on me. She asked me, where I was travelling. I said I am going to my engg hostel after semester vacation. She was happy to know that I was studying engineering. She said anytime she sees young woman ready to bash the male domain anywhere, she feels as winner. She said, she would have loved to have daughters, but she only has three sons. Then in due course of her talking she gave some real good pointers on investments. I being the finance nerd, was amazed. I asked what she does profesionally . She said, she is not educated enough to work like me. But she sure has learnt the way to fend for her family. She said, if you met me few years back, You will not recognize me. I was most obiedient wife a husband can ask. But I knew not an inch of where the money is coming from, how much we will have for our future. My husband was a businessman. He never felt the need of teaching me any naunce of his business, because thats how business family worked.

And one fine day, her husband died of heart attack, leaving three sond under the age 10. She was like, on that day I didnt kow what to do , where to go. I had learnt everything from servants in our shop , I had to roll up my sleeves and be the man of house till my kids will turn in men. She told such a passionate and long story. That by end of it our one fourth journey was over. Suddenly no one was prying , staring and looking cheap. everyone flowed in her pain and rejoiced in her victory. She said in period of ten years she has tripled her hsuband 's business and finsihed all the debts he has left. She said I received a fake wealthy status as legacy and I have turned it in real wealth status. Now her sons handle most of it, She just keeps and eye. I asked her what keeps her going now, after that she has settled most of responsibilties. she said, the women in her blossomed only after she had to face that crisis and emerge winner. Before that she was exiting but not living. And now that she has tasted life, she want to live until she breaths last. I was actually speechless.
She said, After seeing strong gals like you I get that winning kick in me.. So I will earnestly ask you one thing.. "Never ever be dependent on anybody. Thrive yourself no matter what!!"
I dont know what made her say that. But I did keep her request so far.. And Wherever she is , I hope she is thriving too..

Dear Mithila,

Thankyou so much for the wonderful FB.
I am glad my post reminded you of your Mother. Mothers are the one stable factor of life that doesnt wilt or wane away but gets into your very being and keeps getting stronger by the day. My Mother has had tremendous influence in my life. Not very educated, Not very exposed to life , she still went ahead and tread the path that even men fear to. She had the grit , the guts, the survival instinct , not for her but for her kids. She gave us wings and then taught us to flap and waited and saw us soaring high with satisfaction. But her love doesnt let us fly far away from her, it keeps wanting us to be with her , to protect her , to let her know we cherish her sacrifices and bow down in front of that. We wish to give her all the happiness she lost very young. Though she says our success is her reward , yet i feel and want that she lives now for herself and enjoys herself!

Happy Mothers Day to you!!

Love,
Devika

It a superb narration of your feelings and you feel like that only about your mother.
I too lost my father when I was very young and my mother in her forties and a black beauty.
The whole of to day your mother and my mother are going to keep company with me while I am cooking, cleaning, sweeping and wiping.
God keep these blessed souls in peace,God bless you for writing such a beautiful, soul stirring post.

Dear Devika

What a lovely post. Happy Mothers day to you and ur mum too. God bless mothers without them where would we be.
Thank you for sharing with us such a beautiful moment from your life and giving us all something to remember on Mothers day ( i just saw this post today). I think as mothers we need to always remember to pass on values and be role models more than anything else to our children.
After reading thru i take the advice to add to my own list of thoughts to pass on to my daughter.

love and best wishes
preethi

Dear Mindi,

Thanks so much for the wonderful FB. Yes Mindi I wish my words can tell exactly my feelings though I feel there is so much more....
My Mother is the embodiment of courage , determination and will power. Her decisions in life were always taken with us kids as priority . She existed for us and gave us a great life to live. I can never say that I didint miss my Father because I truly did , as I was his pet and protege and two I feel the struggle would have been so much less for Mother, but now I feel its upto us to try and be able to compensate for the sacrifices made for us though I know for sure nothing I do will be equivalent to that.

Mindi as far as your question about beauty is concerned ,I am trying to be as good as her not so much in physical but in mind as thats what really matters ,though I know that the xerox can never be as good as the original!!

Wish you a very Happy Mothers Day dear!!

Love,
Devika

Dear Vanaja,

Yes Love is very different from trust and Love is selfless and uncondidtional in the truest sense only from the Mother. No looking for reciprocation.!
Forever giving and yet so much to give... The most beautiful relation to enjoy and cherish!

Your post carries a good message. Love is totally different from Trust. One can love and be affectionate to people around but the only person whom you can both trust and love is MOTHER. And so is her advice.

Thanks for sharing such a wonderful message.

The occasion of Mother's Day is extraordinary for all of us. It's time to love, kiss and hug the most precious creation of God- our Mother All through our lives we love to put our heads in the lap of our mothers, unmindful of our status, position and standing. For her, we always remain the small kid but this is the day to visit our Mother spend time with her, hold her hands and reassure her of our love and care. Some of the most beautiful messages from some of the greatest men and women of all times pay a glowing tribute to mothers on this Mother's Day
  • Your arms were always open when I needed a hug. Your heart understood when I needed a friend. Your gentle eyes were stern when I needed a lesson. Your strength and love has guided me and gave me wings to fly. - Sarah Malin
  • If I had a flower for each time I thought of My Mother, I could walk in my garden forever. - Unknown
  • Mother is the name for god on the lips and hearts of all children - Brandon Lee
  • Mother love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible. - Marion C. Garretty
  • All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel Mother. - Abraham Lincoln
  • There is no velvet so soft as a mother's lap, no rose as lovely as her smile, no path so flowery as that imprinted with her footsteps. - Archibald Thompson
  • The Miracle of Life nurtured by a woman who gave us love and sacrifice...MOTHER - Joel Barquez
  • This heart, my own dear mother, bends, with love's true instinct, back to thee! - Thomas Moore
