Default An Encounter with WILD!!

Dear Ilites,

I have been eagerly waiting to post this thread of mine in this forum. I love watching animals and do not get bored of them anytime.

I have visited the Vandalur Zoo in the out skirts of Chennai umpteen number of times. My mother would always resist me from going there if I ever set to plan a trip.

Last summer I had been to the Zoo with my cousins and had a great fun watching animals. The most enjoyable moment was the Lion Safari. The Chimps were really amazing to watch as they resemble us a lot.

The Leopard was playing a Ringa-Ringa Rose all alone in his 3 feet cage. The Crocodile was seen lying like a huge log with its jaws wide opened on the sand. A glance of animals that we saw - Zebra, Giraffe, Hippo, Deers, Jackal, Fox, Wolf, Bear, Elephant (This time they have introduced Elephant Safari too), Birds, Snakes (Huge Pythons, Cobra, Rattle Snake), Night animals like owl, wild cats, Tortoise, Turtles, Fishes, Emu, White Peacock and few other animals.

It was fearsome to watch the Snakes when they were fed. They were fed with small chicks, my God. The Raj Cobra was fed with a Rattle Snake. It seems they can remain without food after feeding for 21 days and they are the most poisonest and rarest species.

I saw few workers pushing trolleys with full of raw meat at around 1 pm (Lunch time for the animals, I guess) and were feeding the animals from cage to cage.

The Tiger cage had three Tigers by name Sridhar, Ashok and Sundar. When I heard those names from the caretaker, I . Because those were the names of my Aunt's Son-in-laws, that too in the same order of age. When the caretaker pushed a pan of meat inside the cage, they just pounced on the pan and grabbed the meat to the corners.

After returning home, first thing I made a call to my Aunt and told that I saw her SILs in the Zoo. Also asked to tell her daughters to feed them properly .

Are you wondering what I mean by the title "An Encounter with WILD"? Living in a Metropolitan city this is how I come across a wild life in reality. But I would like to hear from you Ilites, your encounter with the WILD, your own personal experience facing a wild animal eye to eye, a visitor from wild to your house or your area.

It will be fun sharing our WILD experiences here as one of our Ilites, Latamurali had an encounter with a snake recently at our house and many of you were enjoying the thread.

Vanaja,
Animals in the zoo are a treat to watch...an encounter with them, wish to be only in the dreams, which has its own predictions too..
My children and myself went to Vandalur zoo 7 years back....they are wonderful..
Today in the news they showed how do the zoo workers make the animals be cool under this scorching heat...very nice to see that they are being taken care of...

our encounter with the WILD...deer. They can be seen plenty in our neighbourhood. and also in our backyard...naturally as our state is the Mountain State and where we live is the South Hills..
they come as a family, parents with one or two babies jumping around, which is a feast to our eyes....feast to their eyes are the grass and some plant shoots and some fruits if any on the trees...

During the summer season, we encounter with wild insects making their home our home...DH and myself are becoming an expert in catching them and let them go outside of the house...

Dear Srini,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the animals in the Vandalur Zoo are having a summer treat. This time they have introduced Elephant Safari too.

Wow! Deers around your house. I love them a lot.

You catch insects! Good, I have not tried even once. The only insect I am dare to touch is the Mosquito.
