My anatomy professor, once during his lectures was telling about this lady who had severe headache for years and later died (no significant findings when she lived). Then they did the postmorteum and when they opened the skull...They could see thousands of bedbugs lining her upper surface of the brain and the interior of the skull and that was the reason of her headache and death. (It gives me goosebumps even now). But he also said that it was an isolated case because our body has a blood-brain barrier mechanism that doesn't allow any living bugs to enter into the brain.
But now and then, when I get my migraine, inadvertently, I think of this case. I only hope and pray that my monster headache is only migraine! |
