Some how I lost this thread...glad that I saw it today...
It is very nice of you to bring those unsung heroes or heroines of our country which creates an awareness to help mankind and other living being..
I also saw in TV, a guy who was supposed to go abroad for higher qualification in Hotel Management, saw a guy on the streets hungry, bought and gave him food, but there was no reaction from the guy except he was eating fast, then he came to know that he is mentally challenged...that day he made a decision and with the approval of his parents, he prepared food for these people...and he has also started a home...for them...He is from Madurai...Tamil Nadu.

Thanks Hasita for sharing word about this wonderful and selfless human beings who are making a different with their efforts. This strengthens my ambition to do something like these things back home when ever I am there.

Continued from yesterday's topic of Ajit Joshi, the man who helped the children of Guragon's brick-kiln workers.

Most of these workers did not want their children to continue the same way of life and wanted them to have better lives, hence educated. So, when Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Ajit Joshi volunteered to get them educated, they readily agreed.

He started an evening school in the same area as where these workers were working for their children, that is in the "Bhatta". Bhatta mean brick kiln factory. So the school itself was called Bhatta Primary School.

Since the factory was operational just for 6 months of the year, the children too had to work to make ends meet. But they all rush to the school eagerly each evening, looking forward to being with their books, after being with the bricks the entire day!

As for the remaining six months of the year, Ajit Joshi plans to overcome this problem by building a hostel nearby, so that the kids can stay there when their parents go to their towns and villages for the balance 6 months of the year.

Commendable, I must say! Really shows that where there is a will, one finds a way!
