Dear Padmavathi,

Thanx for showing the other side of the coin also.

My main point here the way that lady argued for giving a little space for a journey of 30 - 45 min max. If we start showing our kids the way to behave is by arguing and by justifying as to what we are doing is correct is not ethical.

Agreed these kinds of things are happening everywhere and it is upto individuals to see & perceive the same. Somehow, on that day this incident bothered me lot, so thought of sharing the same here.

Hi Lalitha,

Nice observation. You are totally right in that we need to notice all the small things. Because values are instilled in kids through these small things. Just reminded of a story that I read somewhere..

A dad and his young daughter go for a kids exhibition. They come to the end of the line to buy tickets. The person in the counter informs that for kids below 8, the exhibition is free and for the kids above 8, it is $15. The father asks for two tickets. The man in the counter says, "you could have told me that your kid is below 8 and just purchased one ticket. I would have never noticed". For which, the father say, "You won't. But she will".

Thanks for sharing your observation:)

Hi Lalita,

Good observation and an apt topic here at IL...with so many moms around. I am sure it will make them think twice if they are going the other way.

But if i put myself in the lady's shoe....mayb travelling with the kid on her lap for abt 30-45 min might not be very comfortable in that crammed bus.
- maybe her ill-health may not make her comfortable to travel in this manner
- she had a bad day since morning and vent out her anger/frustration on fellow passenger.

If it was none of the above or anything else and pure selfishness...then i agree she did not set a very good example.

Roopa.

Dear Roopa,

Thanx for coming here. We can always justify our actions right but kids won't be able to see the justification.
