Hello kamalji
nice analysis of names.Though Shekspere said "what is in name ,A rose wud be a rose even called by some other name. But names do carry a Very important & ego satifying role in life if good names are given by parents other wise so many people changes them.
Do U know about Old Marwari names -
Dhapi or dhapu bai when a family have too many girls & were fad up they named new comer Dhapi bai.
Chouthi - Fourth girl in many families got this name Similar is Teeja bai or teejo..
If a son was bourn after many prayers he was given a very odd sounding name not a nice one so as to escape the bad effects of NAZER like Ghaseetaram Or Ogadram .
one can have a PHD in names analysis if one want.
I never understood why Parthive Patel ( cricketer 9wicket keeper ) Indian teme was named like that as it is a pure Hini word & it means dead. Hope they thought by this he wud have a long life ..........bonk
Regards.

Hi Kamalji,

Hillarious.
Unfortunately Laalu and Raabri named their daughter Meesa(its name of an ordinance).Laara would have been nice for her.

Here north andhra people name their children combining the names of nearby piligrim centre's deities where they live .They have a minimum of 4 or 5 initils tailed by either murty or Rao apart from surname. So funny..........

Krish,

Yes.I read that about VVS Laxman. In india it is ok, just imagine in the states, how much they must be ragged by the foreigners. So they change to nicknames there, like Peter, John etc.And get an accent too in the process.Regards.kamal

Hi Kamalji:

That was hilarious.

I remember when young, my father's friend called his son by the nickname (about 25 years old then) 'mari' which in Kannada means baby!

My sis-in-law was named Kavana after her parents Kamala and Narayana. Va - ofcourse was an addition. Beautiful name altogether.

But what do you have to say about Larry King's daughter's name : Chance and then 'Paris' of Hilton fame?

Sindhu
