Loved your post on "Thinnai".You mde me nostalgic! Yes.. it's a diminishing feature these days in cities but villages still preserve them.

In palakkad (kalpathy agaharam to be precise!) every year "kalpathy Theru"(car festival) is conducted in a grand manner,it's a festival of pomp and splendour ,celebrations go on for about 15 days approx.

Sorry for the digression ,its needed to understand the significance though...
To preserve the heritage of the village for the years to come and to retain the rustic appearance, the govt has renovated the existing "thinnais" and also reconstructed the damaged ones in a specific style at its own cost.Now all agraharam houses are sparkling with brand new thinnais .Isn't it lovely?

Thanks for getting into this 'thinnai' where you gave some hope that thinnais are being rejuvenated and restored in Kerala...hope the same thing is being followed where thinnais are present...
