Hey Punitha,

Thankyou so much for appreciating my article.
I'm glad these days kids are more vocal and demonstrative, but I guess its never too late for us to learn too!!!!

I really appreciate your thought.
Many times we take them for granted. I have done that too...
I still remember both my mom and dad used to worry for me if I get sick with fever and used to sit next to me whole night.
I realized that very much when I delivered here in US and nobody was around me during my labour pain and after that. When my parents were around me for simple fever and delivery was a major thing and nobody was there. I used to cry whole night thinking about this in the hospital.

And whenever I am not there with them, I think of making them to sit, relax and I want to cook for them and serve. But when I see my mom I become lazy...(which is very bad). But in my last visit I wasn't like that, I did help her out with some house work.
They are also getting old and they need moral, physical support.
I took them to restuarants, shopping and made them happy.

There is much more to learn and change ourselves...
But all these things are realized only after becoming mom.

I am proud of my parents and happy to be their daughter!!

Even though there is MOTHER's day and Father's day, we don't have the tradition/habit of celebrating it.

But now a days, my kids are learning all these things from school and they speak out.
I think with our generation, we have communication problems. We don't speak out, instead we do take care of our parents during their old age etc.

Dear Devika,

A very thoughtful post from you. Your mother is a lucky lady to have a daughter like you.
This is also a timely reminder to all of us who may forget the little niceties while going through a hectic life. We go out of our way to please friends and colleagues, we so easily forget the ones who matter the most...our paretns, spouses and children
This touches a chord in everyone, no wonder Vandhana has nominated it for the Finest Post of the Month!

Thankyou so much. Your decision to increase your visits to your Mother means a lot to me, since that was the intention to let all realise the importance before its too late.
Love to your Mother,

God Bless,

Devika

Hi Devika,

What a wonderful post! Sorry that you lost your father. My eyes were filled with tears when you narrated your father's last minutes and your feelings in those minutes. This is a thought which hits almost everybody at one point of time. Because this is the nature of kids and that is how parents are made up. Any reaction for the thought makes the difference.

Devika,

what a wonderful write up. As kids we tend to take things for granted when it comes to parents. I sometimes think if I did a good decision coming all the way to US. Every time I visit, I see a big changes in them physically and otherwise. Your post just reminds me its about time for me to call them. I tend to chat at least once in 2-3 days, just to say hello and hear their voices.
Though I must say sometimes more than a week goes by before I get a chance.

I am sure you are indeed a blessing toyour mom as she is to you.

Hi Rekha,

Thankyou for appreciating my post. I know its sometimes not possible to be regular in calling your parents but whats important is whenever you call ,let them know how wonderful they have been as Parents. Saying it makes a lot of difference coz the Parents are glad that they have done complete justice to their roles.
Take Care,

God Bless,

Devika
