hi vase ma'am
you didnt have to take your nose-ring out. instead you could have replaced it witha simple small stud. that is the fashion now. and ma'am, how could one define that only paatti's wear nose-ring? i'm wearing one. and that definitely doesnt make me a paatti.

cheers ma'am

Mine is similar to that of Vanaja's....where I got my right-nose pierced by a "thattan"; this was during my 10th holidays; I was not forced and did it on my own will --- my mother wears diamond nose-rings on both noses and diamond earrings ...so I wanted to do the same when I was young It might have caused quite a pain but the desire to get it pierced over-powered the pain, I guess

But lo.... I dont wear it now!!! Wondering why??? the story goes like this.... After piercing, I was wearing a gold one right thru the +2 & college and initial years of work till I got married! My hubby said that the 'nose-ring' is for 'patti's' and suggested that I wear them only when I became one....so promptly removed the same and the diamond nosering is sleeping in the locker now....

Hope one day I would re-pierce the same and adorn the same with a "sparkling" diamond....

Cheers!

Dear Sundari,

Sorry for being late to this thread. But later thought better late then never.

Here it goes, my nose ring story.

When I was studying in class III my maternal aunt suddenly passed away and we went to chennai, as our summer holidays also started we were camping in my granny's house. One of long standing friend had come for dukham vicharikarthku, she saw me and asked my mom whether we can pierce her nose (this was told to me later) and my mother had also secretly agreed as she had already made a small nose stud (with a tiny pearl in the middle) in bangalore. This lady was the family piercer, she had pierced my mom's both nostrils and my aunty's single side. The dday was chosen and the lady broke a piece from the stitching needle and peirced my nose. I was cry & shouting very loudly....she left the needle in the nose itself. After 15 days, she again changed the same to the humble brrom stick.........again my howling. Logic behind the change was the hole would become bigger so that a nose stud will be easy to put. After coming to Bangalore, my mom changed the same into the stud. I was totally confused whether I was looking good or not. But still it remains but promptly replaced with a small diamond stud...

My younger dd loves it and she is been pestring from the age of 3 and my elder just cannot stand the same. But I left the choice to them...maybe after few yrs let them decide.

very true,
but am feeling so much for the young you it must had been a terrible experience, though my mom when young did it herself on another side with a lemon thorn and my grand mom having some 5 girls had not much to share among them and gave her a shouting but still even now she has two nose rings and looks good on her when she smiles ..some people's smile gets enhanced with besthri and muthum thaliku...sunkan
