What you said there was so true SmileAlways. But I believe its a way to show love, extra love, towards someone you care. These people share gifts on most occasions. If not anything else, flowers! The same way we carry fruits or sweets when we visit relatives on festival dates or special occasions. And specially pleasing the wife seems like a remote possibility with many Indian men, especially when the family is around cos of what they've been taught all their life. Can't blame them too.

Sometimes I envy these people's ability to display their affection for each other so openly. Hugging or kissing in public is no big deal for them. At the same time, a divorce too isn't..lol

You have raised a valid point Tanoshii.

:). This is what something I wanted to point out. Since divorce is not a big deal in their society, it is important for them to nurture the relationship by showing love, care and affection. On the other hand, most Indian men don't have to worry about nurturing the relationship with their spouse . Wife is guaranteed after marriage. :hide:

    Interesting views Smilealways :)
So true, Valentine's day is not a big deal in India, because, a spouse does not really need to prove their love to the other half only by showering explicitly with materialistic gifts. It's funny that there is a single designated day in Feb for the entire world to declare their love and improve the revenues of florists, greeting card makers etc ;-)

    Hi navs,
    Thanks for your fb.
Valentines day, mothers day, fathers day ... All are imported in India for marketing the greeting card, gifts etc by multinationals. I wonder if our parents heard any of these days in their youth.
