dear suji,
this post reminds me of my only sis in law, who used to show off her brawn mixie and all foreign stuff, from perfume to soaps,to clothing and chocolates and so on, though these things have a lot of problem, with the indian stores not able to replace any parts of the abroad mixie, which is not the case now,
all things available and we need not go very far only ur interest to search matters..sk

Had a hearty laugh reading this , Suji,.....I also faced problems with my neighbour when I was newly married. Not only kitchen stuff, she used to comment on almost everything. That time I took everything very seriously and later only understood that its a timepass with some ladies.Just loved the way u've written..

Hi Suji.....I have no idea how could you speak sth that was in my mind since the day I came here...
Yeah, as a new bride, I came to USA and also brought nothing......no kitchen stuffs at all and procurred everything from here only.....but this mixie always given me some kind of funny feeling......
people who possess this always say that it grinds well but my American mixie has never been a complain to me.......it's grinding everything I used to put in.....and perfectly well.
Yeah, you had written a good post abt the kicthen J-factor.
By the way what is the flower name in English as I am from Bhubaneswar and not a Kannad.
Take care.

Oh very nice.I am also from bangalore.Oh showing off themselves to be better than us in this case is existent everywhere. But coming here i have observed its like a power struggle. Oh I have this brand so i am in much better position than you are. Oh you are on Visa we are on GC. They will be the happiest if we say we will go back to India. I have seen a collegue's wife of my husband. She was always like I buy clothes in such a store ,so its branded. U dont buy there so you are cheap not in exact words but imply.Immediately after coming here, first thing she said was you and your husband need to go back to India. Now remembering those days ,I feel funny. Its humorous now to look back.
Dont you miss eating in MTR ,Vidyarthi Bhavan.I miss it a lot.

Suji,

That was a wonderful post! I had a good laugh out of it!!

Boy, how many times people have made me feel dumb over things like this...they think that they are trying to help me become a better house keeper...at least I am not alone in this
