Yes Shanthi I agree to you at your son's age he use to listen but now for each and everything he wants an explanation and I sometimes find it difficult explaning it to him.

Mokkai vonganidi maanai vongunaa?..chala nijamandi.... the same in tamil is 5 la valayathathu, 50 thil valayathu...My kids know i mean no when i say it....the second time I say with a Stress as "Capital N O." it means a definite no...and when i call them by their full name along with their surname, it means i have reached by saturation point..on the matter...small cues...that goes a long way for me....(Daughter understands, it is tough with my son..who needs explanations for everything.)
hi shanvy,
to you.
every parent has his/her own frequncy with the kids. My cue to the kids is, I go stand square and straight right in front of them and in a very low, hardly audible voice say "I said I don't want to repeat it. which part of the sentence you didn't unserstand?" Mind you, this works mostly with my son. My daughter, 4 yr old (she likes to say she is almost 5 yrs) needs more reasoning! I am more patient with her..

every parent/every kid/every situation is different. As they say in Tamil:
Veetekku Veedu vaasapadi
What is right for me may not be so for you. But Youuuuu (we) Asian parents .... will definitely survive. I'm So Sure!

Regards,
Sharada
