| The Joy of Reading I love to Read since Childhood.First they started with the Superman Batman comics, then the novels started with the Perry Mason Series, then came the news papers.Iget lost in my world of Reading. Now it is blogging that has taken my fancy.Till the year 1995 or so, I could not afford to buy magazines like STardust,Readers Digest, and others.I would go to the Book stalls and browse so long, the owner used to stare at me till I left. Then I would go to another one nearby. We dont have libraries here in Jaipur as other cities have, and I miss them very much. I used to go to my friends house and go to the loo,and seeing some old issues, used to request them to let me borrow, which they gladly did.A friend of mine used to work in a multinational close by,and i used to go to his office have a cup of tea and lie to him that i was passing by and just dropped by.His office used to get Economic Times( just 2 bucks a day), but thats 60 per month. So while leaving i used to ask him if he could spare a few kilos of the ET,and he was more than ready. And a month used to pass away nicely reading the old newspaper. After I found that after giving my wife money for household expenses,my liquor and cigarrettes, and some left over,I started to buy my books feeling like a king, because they came after I was over 40 yrs of age.I used to pray to the Lord that God make me so rich that I can buy whatever books or magazines that i want, without feeling the pinch, and hes obliged me.And no amount of thanks that i can give is enough. These days the books that I am reading and enjoying are Made in Japan(owner of Sony), Icon - steve Jobs, and a few more i dont remember their names now.It feels so nice that i have so many novels yet to read, and I remember my days without them. I wish we had libraries in jaipur which would hire out comics books and novels. I love Sidney Sheldon, robert Ludlum and the above named bookes.CAn anyone suggestme some good novels to read.I will be very grateful.I loved Da Vinci Code too. Kamal |

| Hello Kamalji, a very pleasant evening to you! True that many of us get lost while we engage ourselves in reading; whether its magazines or papers or novels. There is so much that can be associated with the real life situations while we go deep in reading good books! I would recommend all "Paulo Coelho" books (famous "Alchemist"). All his writings are to be treasured and i bet that no one can stop to complete the books or post-pound reading the same to any other day. Even Indian author "Chethan Bagat" is cracking well. [hope you enjoy reading them sir. And my apologies if you do not like them; after all, opinions differ] Regards

| Hello Kamal Sir, I liked reading books, my favourite authors - Sidney Sheldon, Jeffery Archer, John Grisham. I liked Tell me your dreams - Sidney Sheldon. But nowdays multiple personality disorder is quite common in movies and everyone knows about this, for me it was new when i read this book. John Grisham - Lawyer, law firm related fiction, quite interesting, my first book by him is "The Partner", then i couldnt stop reading his other books - "The Firm", "The Client", "Runaway Jury", ... But dont read his "King of Torts" first, bcos it was little bit boring. Jeffery Archer - My fav was "Shall we tell the president". I have also read many books like Best Laid Plans, Kane and Abel, .... Its true magazines are pretty expensive and it is really sad if you dont have libraries, friends who buy,.... In Botswana it was pretty expensive and we dont have even choice, but my hubby reads "National Geographic", Time Magazies, Readers Digest. We used to buy Newspaper only on Sunday "Sunday Times".But after coming to Dubai, we buy regularly - Womans Era, Masala, Outlook, Filmfare,.. Offlate, i am more interested in reading cook books - have collection of Sanjeev Kapoors, Mallika Badrinath, Tarla Dalal and i dont mind reading this in loo also(my hubby always shout). It is not that i read and try new receipes, i just lik to read cook books. As you said nowadays more interested in browsing, forum, etc. Bala |

| Hello Kamalji, you are always welcome.. That was a good collection which you had listed out. And ad Sharada ma'am had pointed out Ayn Rand's books are really good and up to the mark! His "fountain head" which i read in my 12th std was really a good work to mention! Regards

Hi Ramya, Ayn rand is a "SHE" and her philosophy is called Objectivism...the other book that is too good is atlas shrugged..but it is more on the same principal, so for who have read fountainhead..it will look like it is a repetition mainly so because her characters have the same streak... in both the books....
