I think you must be daring to go near the peruchaali and capture it's picture. Had it been me, I would have screamed at the sight of the peruchaali.

Thanks for sharing!
Dear Nivedi,
I am also very much scared
to go near the peruchali. The photo was taken from the entrance of our dining hall that was about 15ft from the main gate. But the peruchali found the kola mavu so tasty that it didn't get distracted by the flash. That's we could click from all angles.

Dear Pushpa,
Great Pics!!!!! So sweet of you to capture the rat eating the kolam and post it here for us.
I also use only arisi mavu to put kolam even if it does flow freely in my hands- i dunt bother, but i immensely enjoy the ants n some birds eat it in the evenings!!!

Dear Sundari,
Thanks for reminding me the peruchali's English name. Actually sometimes even though I know the word I get stuck up while typing. I wonder whether I should get treatment for dementia. I even forget the childrens' names of close relatives. Any way I neglect thess matters thinking these are all old age problems.

Hi Rajmi,
Thank you for the nice words of appreciation of my kolam and the pictures. Really I waited from 10 to 10.30 P.m. to take the pictures. The kolam is the daily dinner for the bandicoot and he rarely misses it.

Hi Kanaka,
Glad to know that your daughter loves birds and animals. As you say kolam is the symbol of Lakshmi kataksham. Kuthu vilakkum kolamum beautifys the house and are believed to be auspicious.

sorats r also new guest is it???
Hi Vivbass,
Thank God, there are no pigs at this part of the city. Cows and buffaloes are aplenty. They are roaming around and at night they just rest at the middle of the road. Rats are restricted entry inside the house and so whatever they get outside, they seem to relish.

Hi Mals,
Pigeons are nice to look at, but as you say the noise they make are irritating. At Hyderabad, in my niece's flat, they were making lot of noice. Though I am an animal lover I am scared of street dogs and fierce looking pet dogs also. Cats are easy going. Thrice a cat delivered 4/5 kittens in our house, each time at a different place. But it was shifting the kittens very often. My grandson was having a guinea pig pet at US. Nice to know that you are also an animal lover.
