| Friends, Coming from another gourmets' paradise of Bangalore, Karnataka , I found by the hard way in Chennai that Sangeetha group of restaurants was by far the best in taste, hygiene and price at Non-star hotel level. North Ind dishes and desserts are yummy here... Saravana Bhavan is just alright for some specialities like 14 idli and Pongal but otherwise very overpriced and very slow in service too... Besides their north Indian dishes are just above yuck level! Talking of star hotels I have been to GRT, T nagar-OK and Taj coromandel- Not recommended fro veg dishes, dunno abt NV dishes The Park- is alright too, very overpriced... Any comments? ![]() Regards Nkumar

| Hi Nkumar, I have been eating in Saravana since the late 80's. It used to be a good place - good and tasty food and reasonably priced. Over the years, the price went up and the quantity came down. The size of idlis is ridiculously small in Saravanas. Sangeetha is so much better. Although I lived in Chennai for long, I did not have the chance to go to Ratna Cafe in Triplicane where I heard the food is good.

| hi all, as everybody said here the saravana bhavan is very expensive now a days. esp the fresh juices one glass of pomogranate is around 30'sss the sevice differs from branch to branch. if u go to the main branch which is in vadapalani the service is good. the worst is the t.nagar branch (b'cos of its service and conjested space, and for the waiting time both for the food and for getting a table) i also prefer sangeetha for both north and south indian food.

| I had been to sangeetha once(?) a very long time ago.. I really liked the taste.. it was yummy... Saravanas is here and had been there regularly. It was an oasis initially since in NJ you did not have an authentic south indian cusine.. Taste, quality, quantity, service, price, everything was awesome in the initial weeks... Then eventually the quality degraded. Weekday food was shocking old... Weekend meals was costly for the dishes they served. I am surprised its the same fate in India.. with all the competition, I thought they would maintain the quality and quantity to please the consumers unlike here, since they are the only ruler right now in regards to south indian cusine.

| Hi, Most of the people like Saravanas. But I am not in favour of their taste. Sangeetha`s is the best. I love the yummy taste. When I was in Chennai we used to go there frequently. I like paniyaram, rava dosai and gobi manchurian etc. and the list is endless. Here in US I miss the taste. But Saravana bhavan in New York city is very good. I tasted there once.

| In both the places the food is tasty. In saravana's they have increased the cost but have reduced the quantity of the food served. All certain done the rush is more. In chennai I never feel like stepping into saravanas cos of the huge rush and the people waiting besides our table for us to leave and occupy it. Sangeetha has a branch in Bahrain. Taste is good as usual. |

| What to say about Singapore Saravana Bavan? I like neither their food nor their service. The quantity is very very less when compared to komla vilas ( not komalas). I understand that the price increases because of various factors but the quantity, quality & service should never change especially in the restaurant business. Sarvana Bavan has lost its charm especially in And we don’t have Sangeetha restaurant so, no comments.

| As there were many days when I have lunched daily at SB and there were days when I have lunched daily at Sangeetha's, when I think about consistency, I feel SB is a better bet. With respect to service, it purely depends on the branch and the people and cannot be generic. Offcourse, if its quantity, i agree SB is very little esp when you choose tiffer items, however, if you choose Business Lunch or regular lunch, its reasonable Just my 2 cents... :) |
