Hi Shravanthika,

I agree chennai has changed. Anyway as for votes, well I don't think people are voting here. Our folks are just writing in about restaurants which they have visited. So, you may find a lot of restaurants being mentioned only once. But if I remember right, Rain Tree has been mentioned twice. Also, Saravana Bhavan is always dependable. You can be assured of the quality of food there. You can just call them up and inquire which all branches of theirs have buffet. Have a nice time!

Regards,
Anitha

Hi Sowparnika,

Nice to know you enjoyed going through the thread. Ya, I have heard about Eden but am yet to visit the place........too many restaurants around and only 2 days during the weekend! What to do? Now that you have vouched for the food in Eden, I am sure a lot of us will add Eden in our "to go" list. Thanks!

Regards,
Anitha

Hello Anitha(A),

This is a wonderful Madras (Chennai) restaurants review thread. Looks like these days there are lots of outside eaters in Chennai - lots and lots of restaurants seem to have come up.

When we are in Chennai, we don't miss to visit the following restaurants:

Sangeetha, Adyar - I love their idiyappam-kurma and ghee idlis.

Saravana Bhavan - any location in Chennai - it's the same taste. We have also eaten in Saravana Bhavan in NY and they absolutely maintain the same taste. I love ghee idlis here too, sambar vadai, curd vadai, variety rice mini thali and love the green(flourscent green) color chutney they serve with almost all Tiffin items.

Opal Inn (in Nungambakkam, not sure) - this is our family restaurant. I love all the Tandoori items they have and also American chopseuy.

Oh...my God, with this thread you have tempted me to visit India atleast to visit some of the new restaurants listed in this thread.

Good one!

Malathy

Sowpar,

You are welcome to nanganallur. what to do..looks like people in this area are eating out.. I don't eat outside but keep track of the hotels and shops...

Eden, was a very silent becoming place in the when it started. have been there..now it is a great hangout for lot of people...but i liked the ambience of the whole place then rather than now.

For the non-veg lovers, in the nanganallur/madipakkam area..Orion next to Reliance Fresh puzhuthivakkam is nice I heard (from one of my friends who frequents it..) she feels the portions are good and the rates are very reasonable.

There is a veg fare also, which it seems is nice..for those who don't mind a mixed affair...

Shravanthika,

I think you are from chromepet area. Then you could check out if vasantha bhavan, adayar anandabhavan at tambaram has a buffet..may be Latha, rajmi could help you on that..

Than going to saravana bhavan all the way. again peters road, and tnagar have buffet the one next to univercell and narayana pearls showroom.
