Smile Re: Restaurants in Namma Madras

hi AnithaA,

We met the other day, but even when Padma mentioned about you of "Namma Restaurants" thread, it didn't strike me about this thread. I have gone through it only briefly, and had mentioned to DH about your pizza place recommendation.

You wrote about "Little Italy" at Nungambakkam, right? I want to try out that place once at least (expensive, ya?!). I'm asking you here for a second opinion and which is a good pizza to have for vegetarian. Do they serve n-veg pizzas? Dh might want that.

I've eaten once at "Little Italy" at Juhu Tara road in Mumbai, and their items are excellent. I mainly remember the garlic bread there, its been a long time, forgot what else i had had.

waiting for your reply..
best,
hasita

Veda Sir,

Welcome! By summary of restaurants, do you mean restaurants in Villivakkam? If so, then I am unaware of that! Maybe the present Villivakkam "vasis" can help us out. I am only aware of "Kongunadu Rasam" in Villivakkam that someone mentioned here. Read good reviews about it and hope to go there soon. Will keep you updated.

Regards,
Anitha

The famous udipi hotel, those days & the kalpana hotel.... Gone with the wind...

Will there be a summary of good restaurants somewhere....??? where me and my kiddos can go and pamper ourselves...

Cornucopia - is on cenotaph road - continental, but good food.

Another one is Tangerine - Tht s on Murrays Road, Alwarpet. Great tasty sizzlers. Around 250 per head

Aslo Zaras - Ths s actually a bar, so avoid for dinner. Weekdays lunch they have a offer. Starter+Main course+dessert for 125. Good food.

Hi AnithaA, Archana,
Cream Centre is on Chamiers Road but for the cost their portions are small.
Food is good though, went there when the place was a few months old, Chole batura is their speciality, they have an outlet in Mumbai too.

Hasita,

Yes, Little Italy is THE BEST place in Madras for Italian food as far as I know. I don't know if they have a branch in Mumbai. This place is completely vegetarian so you can order anything you want. My all time favourite startes there are cheese nachos and spinach dips. Both are just wonderful! As for pizzas, they have only one size - the size of the large pizzas provided by the pizza outlets. I do not know how their "Indian" pizzas(the ones with paneer, etc) are but I've tried a lot of their pizzas and everyone of them is awesome! They also have lasagna, pasta and other stuff. The pricing is slightly on the higher side but I feel it is worth it! Lemme know how you felt about the place when you go there. Now, you've made me ......I HAVE to go to Little Italy soooooon!!!! Happy eating!

Regards,
Anitha

Vysan,

Ok, I will call you as just "Vysan" if you will drop the "M'am".(Somehow addressing you as just "Veda" doesn't seem right to me!) There are a lot of "purely" vegetarian restaurants that have been mentioned in this thread. I will compile a list of those for you (and folks like you) soon.

Regards,
Anitha
