Dear Malathy, thanks for mentioning Oapl Inn.....its another addition to my list!

About Orion, yes it is good. I completely forgot about it! We used to be regular customers. But nowadays we find that it is becoming expensive, considering the location and the food served. It used to cost somewhere around Rs.200/- to Rs.250/- for 2(non-veg) but now it costs atleast Rs.150/- extra for the same food! My husband and I realised it only last week! So visit it once and then decide.

B.T.W, can someone tell me why this thread has been moved into the "general" thread list from the "Shopping and Restaurants" forum? I am not complaining but just wondering why.........

Regards,
Anitha

hai,
Nice thread to know about restaurants of Chennai. Well, we frequent the Drive Inn Woodlands whenever we come to the beach or someone comes over to visit us.
On special occasions, we go to Mathura in the Tarapore Towers in Mount Road, a very nice place to celebrate. We frequent the Hot Chips at Anna Nagar, are well known there. Good food at reasonable price. We used to go to Saravana Bhavan, but the price is so high and the portions have literally shrinked.
We once ate at the Rajathani Dhaba in Anna Nagar, but for us the food was very blant. But my niece tells me that the lunch is good.
In Ambattur, we have only the Kumars Hotel and the Raja Bhavan on the main road which are better. There are some small places where we get good tiffin not fancy ones.

While on food the Red-E- Food court has many drop zones and they have a small place to eat at their outlet too. Their food standard has remained the same over the years. The portions are generous too. A meal, starter, rotsi, sabji, rice dish will work upto Rs.600.

Dear AnithaA,
This thread is back to where it belongs Shopping and Restaurants

Hi Anita,
Nice thread. WOW great lists. Matsya is having a main restaurant in Egmore. It is too good.

Also behind one of the malls, just opposite to Tillaiyadi valliammai pattu maligai, there is a chat shop. Their kakra is too good. You will really love thier Pani Puri and Bhel Puris too. They serve you hot Jelabi's from around 2.30 in the afternoon.

Then Ganga Bavan in Velachery have yummy chats too.

There is this Udipi Mess in Velachery. (If you go to the Velachery ICICI Bank Road, it is in the other end of the road. The road goes and hits this mess). Very tasty and their Vadaikari is really famous. Lots of people after playing tennis comes to have thier morning breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays. Their Veg Pulav is also too good (This is served in the night).

There is a Fruit Shop on Greams Road in the 100ft Road Petrol Bavan in the GST Road. This Petrol Bunk have lots of other eateries like Adayar Ananda Bavan, Pizza Corner etc too.

Dear RajmiArun,

Thanks a lot for adding to the list! I didn't know Matsya had a main branch in Egmore. And yes, the chat in Ganga Sweets is amazing! Especially that gree coloured sauce that they give for the samosas!!! Can you tell me where this Tillaiyadi valliammai pattu maligai is? This is the first time I'm hearing of this maligai!

Regards,
Anitha

Hi,

Nice idea of starting this thread to know about the restaurants in chennai...... sorry i missed this thread and noticed it only today.

May flower restaurant in prince plaza egmore is good. They serve veg continental food and the qty they serve is quite a lot and the price is in par with normal restaurants.

Someone had mentioned about the paratha shop in new college compound in royapettah. I have tasted their parathas and is good but few weeks back i was passing by and i did not notice their shop, hence i thought they have closed down.

thanks

Sundari bhaskar
