Hi Ladies,

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee Help.It is again the age old battle between FP vs Mixie.(Never ending debate like Love vs arranged marriage)

I have a mixie perfectly working. Now i am confused whethe to exchange it for FP?Actually My requirement is the juicer attachment in FP.Now, i can buy juicer itself but then Does it have a citrus juicer also??????or else i need to buy citrus juicer seperatly.

How does FP work for Idli/dosa batter or chutneys.Dry powders?????????

Now, I dont want to go for more stuff.Like Mixie for chutneys then Fp then Wet grinder then juicer.

I just want all in one.So if am getting FP i want to disown my mixie. My only interest in FP is Juicers attachment both citrus and Centrifugal.

Please suggest me.Retain my mixie and go for juicer!!!!!!!!!!!!!If yes........then can we make citrus fruit juices from it?????????

or..... Should go for FP??????Okay.......then does it grind idli/dosa,chutney,dry grinder like mixie????? I am perfectly satisfied with the work my mixie is doing in that department and am not in any way into Wet grinder stuff.

So.........Mixie+juicer combo OR FP without anything addtional.

Oh god am so confused.and sorry to confuse you all.All this just because i really dont like to have more stuff at home.

Hi Nandu,
I have cuisinart 11 cup and very useful. i tried a salad shooter too and liked it, i chose FP over a salad shooter becos FP does more stuff than shooter and i dont have space to buy both.
In the FP i dough atta sometimes only becos it is a hassle to clean the bowl, blade etc.
I love the FP for shredding carrots, beetroot, cabbage, slicing veggies and chopping/mincing veggies, jaggery, paruppu usili etc. when i use the FP i do 2 or 3 items at the same time and then wash it.

the 12 cup one is huge, but has lots of attachments like juice, 3 bowls inside it in various sizes. if you have countertop space and dont mind spending $$ then u can buy that. i find the 7 cup enough for me.
for baking alone u dont need a FP, just a good electric beater is enough or stand mixer is good.

Dear ladies,

What a coincidence !

I was just searching for FP in IL and noticed the recent interest in this thread again by fellow Ilites.

I was wondering if FP would be useful in chopping and dicing Indian veggies like Tindora [ dondakaya ] ,broad beans, ridge gourd etc.

What should I be looking in a FP to suit my need.I am only interested in processing my veggies thus reducing my cooking time.I am not looking for any other accessories like kneading dough etc.

Any feedback on what I should be looking for is much appreciated.

Sabi,

I've been using FP for almost 6 yrs now. I generally use it to grate carrots, beetroot, cabbage, dice onions, slice beans (you must keep it as bunch), slice cucumber, cabbage, capsicum, toms for salads, cut potatoes etc.

Ofcourse I use it for other things like grinding for vadai or dough kneading etc which you don't seem to be interested.

If cutting veggies is all you need it for, then you can try "presto salad shooter". I recently got the professional version, and its very handy and quick that I hardly take out my FP other than for huge processing and kneading stuff. I don't have hardcore experience with cutting tindora as I have never cooked that vegetable, but for ridge gourd etc its just fine. I have even chopped spinach and other greens with my FP.

Yesterday I tried slicing tindora and came out good. since tindora is short, we need to arrange it full in the opening and then slice it, some pieces gets sliced horizontally but on the whole came out good. better than doing manually.
