Sorry Grace
I forgot to follow up the thread. It is certainly not a bother.

Well, Chutneys do not come well with my FP. The phillips FP's smallest jar is for dry grinding, it is to be inverted while grinding, so cannot be used for chutneys. Also the blades of the FP does not grinds coconut well.

I use preethi daily for:
1.all the chutneys(which needs less water, not the liquified version)
2. grind coconut for kootus,gravies
3. small quatities for dosais (when the quatity is too less for ultra)
4. the stainless steel jar of preeti is good for crushing ice too.
5. and before I bought my ultra, I used preeti for grinding for idli.

But Ultra and FP are enough, only that you look for the brand with the smallest jar that can be used for wet grinding too.(I overlooked itbonk)

But now after reading your post , have one huge question ; does your FP do whatever Preethi can do ??
Chutneys can be ground in FP too , right ??
Do you use your Preethi for something exclusively which can't be done in the food processor ??

Hope I'm not bothering with so many questions ...

Thanks for replying Vijee ; now I'm back to square one .....Big Laugh

I will look in stores here for FP with proper attachment for chutney & grinding coconut etc. Then I'll decide whether to go for it or safely purchase Preethi itself ...

So here I am. All the FP owners, please share your model, cost and your review.

Checking online is too intimidating. I might get some idea with your inputs !!

Thanks much !!

Hi all, I am looking at buying a Food Processor soon so I went through all the posts in this tread. I do have a quick question though - we are a family of 2 adults and a baby but I always cook a meal for 4 people (enough for leftovers for lunch etc.). I don't want to buy an FP that will be too small for us, but I don't want too big of a cup either. What size cup do you guys suggest?

Cuisinart is what I am looking at - this model. It's a 7 cup model but I am wondering if it will slice/shred if it's a smaller quantity like say, a cup?

Thanks for your comments.

Hi Nandu,
I just saw this thread now.......anyways, there is a FP available in Costco for 120 bucks and its very nice......I got this review from my frds who brought it and using it.
If you have not purchased it, just give a try to Costco FP.....
Thank you.

I had been reading quite a few user reviews on which food processor to choose between KitchenAid & Cuisinart . The one major factor which I never knew before was that the KitchenAid comes with just one year warranty while the Cuisinart comes with 10 years !!
Such a huge difference in the Warranty period offered must mean a drastic difference in performance too ! The quality has significantly come down over the years ....
