Default Kent Water purifier

Hi,
I just went thru a demo of Kent water purifier. They are offering a machine which does both UV and RO purification for a price of Rs14000 whereas Aqua guard is charging 17 K for the same model.
Aqua guard is a known brand, but their after-sales-service seems to be very bad.am totally confused .
Friends,Pls advice

You are absolutely right about Aquaguard's after sales service. We've one of their RO model. It turns out it is from Forbes and the run-around they gave us before someone came and did the annual maintenance. There is also the issue of store-bought vs buying from agents. We were first told we need to go to the store in Thiruvanmiyur, then someone from EF came only to tell us he cant service it, we called their hotline back and they had to contact a third-party service provider who serviced it for us.
Just to give you a third alternative. The forbes RO/UV model is pretty good and we bought it for Rs 8,500 June 2007. If you are interested in the details, we could look up the model no. and the service provider for you.
Best for your decision making

Thank you Tikka for ur prompt and warm response.
Is it different from EF's Aqua guard?
Does ur machine do both RO and UV purification?
Does the purified water taste like mineral water?
Can we clean it ourself or do we have to depend on the service executives ?
Am i asking too much... Thank you once again, dear.

Hi Bindhu,
This seems to be a Forbes product and it has no UV (my bad). I found only this page about the product. From my understanding of how reverse osmosis membranes work, you do not need a UV light to kill bacteria and virus, the membrane does that job. The product at home has a sediment filter, scaling preventer, carbon filter and RO membrane.
We live in Kottivakkam and the ground water is very saline almost like seawater. The RO does quite a good job of removing the salts. Most "mineral water" is chlorinated and this baby removes the taste of chlorination too.
Two aspects that are a pain in the tushy are: RO membrane needs to replaced every year (in all models) and you need to get really behind those EF guys for that. No. 2: This does not come with a built-in storage unit, unlike the more expensive models. So you need to have something convenient to collect the water.
Good luck on your decision

I would suggest look for other alternatives also. I have seen new RO from Whirlpool. It looks very good. It talks about 6 sense Purify and Protect. I don't know much about it but liked it.....

Hi,

Aquaguard RO/Nano and Zero-B Pristline. Both costs almost the same. Any suggestions which one to buy?

Thanks,
Priya
