Default Help regarding gift centres in Chinatown, NY and NJ

hi all,

Planning for a days trip to NY this weekend. Heard that we can get purses and other ladies fancy stuff in china town, NY. Are those really affordable, thought of picking few items as gifts for my relatives and friends in India.

Also are there any more shops in NY to get small gifts in an affordable price? Please do share with me when you all find time. As i am planning to go to india very soon, it would be a great help for me to shop from now.

NJ ILites please do let me know if there are some good stores to purchase things for India other than the reputed stores like walmart, target and sears.

Awaiting your response. Thanks.

Sure.. there are lots of mirror handbags (replica of branded bags like gucci, prada and what not ;)

It will be a great deal to buy for people back home.

As we do in India.. BARGAIN.. they will start with $50-$60.. but if you are really a good bargainer (they say i am ) you can get it for $10-$20 max :)

Avenue of Americas and 7th(?) I guess has lots of souvenir stores.. where you can get I LOVE NY shirts (The famous one that everyone likes to own one back in India) - 10 for $10.

Also in Times square opposite to the big toys R us there is a souvenir shop, you can buy gifts.

It depends on what you want to buy.

For good branded stuff(nike, watches, sunglasses etc), there are lot of outlet malls. - Jersey gardens Exist 13A or Jacksons Outlet mall - Six flags exit.

In rt.27, you have revlon outlet for cosmetics..

Let us know what you have in mind and whats your budget :)

Hi Nandhu,

That was really a good piece of information for me. Since i have a long list of people i cannot really go for branded and costly items for everyone. I just dont want to disappoint them and give them atleast some small things say cosmetic items, chocolate bags, perfumes, handbags and so on each item not exceeding 10 or 12 $. I should not go empty handed when i meet them that is what i have in my mind. For my in-laws, parents and close circle i have to go for really durable and branded.

Like how kamal states his phobia i too have a long list of aunties, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbours, chithies and chithapa's. Hope you understand my situation and budget :?. Please do help me with some more places for budget shopping. Thanks.
