Use of Fans in Summer -----

Hi all

As the summer has begn, jus wanted to start a thread regarding "Use of Fans in Summer".

Like Room heaters, which reduces our gas bills much in winter, guess Fans will be of very use in Summer. It saves lot energy when compared to the Air Conditioner. Like gas bill, we can reduce our Electricity bill in summer by avoiding much use of AC....

Pl share your experiences regarding usage of Fans in Summer and also the BRAND & FEATURES of Fan which will be very much useful or good during summer.....

We have planned to buy a Fan, dont know which brand to buy and also about the features....

Ceiling fan would reduce much energy consumption than the standing fans.
We do have fans at home. I try to open up the window most of the time unless it is very humid out.

i have standing fans in every bedroom...but like Puni i prefer ceiling fan like in India.

u were right the ac cost much than the fan.

I prefer ACs as it gets so humid here.....and also we use fan (Pedestal) sometimes like during cooking as I have to open the doors/windows to let go the vapour/heat.....and that time fan is very useful...
But I can't sleep when the pedestal fan is blowing....I would rather like ceiling fans (as we used to have in India, I don't have one here in my appartment).

hi,

ceiling fans consume less energy compare to pedestal fan,.
one more reason to prefer ceiling fans ,the air will be distributed in all directions equally all the time.

Sorry for the late reply yaar...
Actually in our apartment we cannot fix a ceiling fan, as there is no holder for that...so we have to strictly strict to the other models. And unfortunately there is no windows in the kitchen also...so no ventilation....i dont knw how we r going to manage..!? Pl let me know any specific model for the table/standing fans....

I should stick to the Pedestal fans for kitchen as we cannot have a ceiling fan...there is no holder for that.
And moreover there is no window through which air can go out...so jus thinking to buy a standing fan....

Gr8 that u ppl have windows in ur kitchen....but we dont. And especially the kitchen is a cave to me as without lights i cannot cook....
