Hi Lalitha:

I do recollect "RASI" having an exchange offer for Adi festival a few times.

I suggest you keep looking for the ads around that time.

Cheers,
Prb.

Hi, I think 'Rasi Silks' mylapore arrange for these exchange mela's of and on, as many other silk shops, who advertise in the local daily. How about, if it is good and not damaged, to get it printed or dyed a different color? They acquire a new look and look fantastic!'Ramlok' does that, and have branches in many places in Chennai. They have been doing this for many years and experienced. They take four days to deliver, and, mind you, they call you up to let you know when they are ready! For Rs.400-500 depending upon the color, design etc., you get a new look for a old silk saree! This will work only in chennai, but you can find out from yellow pages in other places.

Hi kaluputti,

Thanks for your suggestion. I made beautiful salwars with my pattu saree, and using them regularly here. I have seen the 'ramlok's' work. My mother's cusin did many sarees with them. But I dont get a chance for that. so I convert all my sarees to salwars and using them.

yes, that is another good option, for people who can wear it often....but for indians in USA or other western countries, it is on rare occasions or only when they have get-togethers with other Indians! Many ads come in the free areawise newspapers like adyar times, t.nagar talk, etc., but cannot be sure of the authencity.

Oh, in India it is not a problem at all.You give the saree and the measurements to the tailor, who can do it for you, according to your design and specifications! And shops are plenty where you get matching dupatas alone, in various textures and colors. At least in Chennai shops likes these are strewn all over.
