Dear Srishita........ Imani is right. I think you mean the electric griddle sold here in many stores. Only, they are rectangular in shape and one can make two dosas side by side if need be. I bought it when I saw my friend make a huge rava dosa on it. Looked really impressive. I use it for rava dosas generally or to make tikkis and patties etc. It is also good to keep tikkis etc warm when serving for a party. L, Kamla

Its a very nice purchase. Dosas are crisp and it makes 2 at a time which is convenient.

Hi Hydgrr

Its good really. Ya it is called Electric griddle n u wil get almost all stores.
During my last visit I saw it one of my relatives place, where she a large pesarattu n dosas. I impressed v much n I also purchased for myself n bought it to India. It costed me in an 50% offer $30/- (Ofcourse u wil have offers quite often)I think.

After coming back to India I purchased a convertor costing Rs.400/- n I am using it. Its working wonderful n all my relatives are surprising, when I am making two dosas at a time. Its saving my time as wel as when I am cooking food and also Iable to make tiffin. Really it is a good item n one shd hv, particularly in US u people must hv it. Enjoy.

Thumbs down Re: Electric Dosa pans in u.s

Hi Srishita,

These are called Electric Griddles. It is extremely convenient for making masala dosas, oothappam, tikkies, bread sandwich ( since at a time we can make many)

What I have is the one with a flat surface. But nowadays, i see there are even reversible griddles available ..flat on one surface and with grills on the other side...to grill veggies, bread or even meat.

These are easily available in Walmart, Sears and Target. There is also a cute temperature setting that ranges from 200 to 400*F. You can also keep it warm using that switch.

Very user friendly and definitely I would recommend it if you do a lot of cooking!

Cheers
Krithika ( Jithiks)

Make sure you buy the small ones like our dosai tawas .. not that rectangular big size ones.. unless you have a very big family...

because it just eats up lots of storage space :)
