For to mention.....if you have a got a daughter, you can stitch gorgeous 'gagra, choli' , or skirt with blouse made out of the 'pallu' etc. There is a friend of mine who designs beautiful dresses, accessories out of good old sarees, dupats etc.Recycling is good for the earth and also is gentle on our wallets, in these times of inflation!!

one small advise. dont ever go for this exchange offer or even dont go to that shop to buy any silk sarees apart from exchange. b'se they'll buy all the old silk sarees & polish them like new & selling them again with new price. may be it is cheaper than other stores. this is the fact. so beware.

They acquire a new look and look fantastic!'Ramlok' does that, and have branches in many places in Chennai. They have been doing this for many years and experienced. They take four days to deliver, and, mind you, they call you up to let you know when they are ready! For Rs.400-500 depending upon the color, design etc., you get a new look for a old silk saree! This will work only in chennai, but you can find out from yellow pages in other places.

Hi Kalupati, That's good news. I shall look out for "Ramlok" shops the next time I go to Chennai.... BTW, do you have an idea if they have centers in Nanganallur, mylapore, Adyar & west mambalam??

Thanks!

Yep! I would second this! During my last trip to chennai, I was eager to get a sari exchanged and wanted to go to Rasi; but some of my relatives advised me not to go and told me about such incidents

Cheers!
